The Internet Is Divided On Whether Watching Sports At A Bar Is Better Than Watching At Home

Notre Dame

Don't you love when social media gets going on a random topic? The internet can often be a not-so-nice place, where people spew their thoughts into the void of the world-wide-web with reckless abandon, and more importantly, little care for what anyone else has to say. It can be really cruel, but every once in a while, social media fulfills the purpose it was originally intended for. Stirring conversation. I'm always keeping an ear to the ground (AKA eye on X/Twitter) for examples of social media actually working, and I recently stumbled upon a sports take that really got the masses fired up. A man by the name of Joshua "Captain" Block utilized Norman Rockwell's famous art piece "Freedom of Speech" to share his thoughts on how sporting events should be consumed. Specifically, the social media user suggested that if you weren't going to watch the big game in person, going to a sports bar is a terrible alternative. In his opinion, the peak form of watching only requires your own couch and a 6-pack of brewskis: "Watching a big game at the bar blows in comparison to a couch and a 6 pack." https://twitter.com/Gloryboundbar/status/1877523437435973956 Only a 6-pack? Gotta get those 12-ounce-curl reps up. Despite the potential underestimation of beer needed to enjoy a game, others online started to flock to this post and share their takes. Some agreed and said they'd much rather watch a big game from the comfort of their own home, while others said that the best way to consume sports - if you aren't actually buying tickets - is to watch at a bar with likeminded fans. Personally, I'm torn between the two options. I love watching sports and sharing in the moment with others, but if it truly is a massive game that one of my favorite teams is playing in, sometimes it's for the safety and well-being of others that I watch alone on my couch with only a 12-pack of beer to keep me company. The takes in the reply section of the post have ranged all over the place, so I'll let you see for yourself how others feel about their preferential sports watching experience:
