Yellowstone Fans Sound Off On Ridiculous Amount Of Branded Products

We're a week removed from the Yellowstone Series Finale, and after giving it a little time to marinate, I have to say... I didn't completely hate it. Plenty of people called it the worst ending since Game Of Thrones, and a number of fans HATED the amount of Travis we got in the final season, but I wouldn't go that far on either point. The show was ALWAYS headed towards the end of the ranch... it was always gonna go back to Native American people who gave it to James Dutton in 1883. And plenty of fans saw that coming before the prequel series all but confirmed it with their 7 generations scene. And as far as Taylor Sheridan's character Travis goes, I felt like he was designed to add a little comic relief during an otherwise heavy season. Taylor knows that Travis is a tool, that's the point... he wasn't writing a badass horse trainer with a super model girlfriend to stroke his own ego. At least I don't think so... my hunch is that most rodeo folks know a douchebag like Travis and he wanted to give fans a laugh with the most obnoxious caricature of a "horse bro." Nevertheless, one of the things that I do find incredibly irritating has nothing to do with the plot of the show. It's the amount of Yellowstone and 6666's-branded merchandise that is all over supermarket shelves. And don't get it twisted, I'm not talking about t-shirts and hats... our very own Whiskey Riff Shop offers officially licensed Yellowstone gear. The chef on the show, Gator, who is also a real chef who cooks for the production team has a cookbook which is pretty cool too... but canned chili? Spice blends? Beef jerky? Macaroni and cheese? Who the hell wants to eat Yellowstone branded frozen TV dinners? It's absurd. It's too far. I mean, look at some of this sh*t: Yellowstone mac Yellowstone chili Yellowstone waffle maker Yellowstone cologne A Yellowstone waffle maker? Who would actually put that in their kitchen? Aren't you embarrassed? And look, this is business, you're trying to make money. I get it. I run a business too. You have IP worth a billion dollars with that Yellowstone branding and you have to strike when the iron is hot. Completely understood. But... when is enough a enough? When does whoring out the logo on boxes of frozen meatloaf not worth the cost of looking like absolute bozos? It just seems like there is a definitely line between cool branded merch and slapping your logo on anything and everything. It's not just me... here's comments from a ton of Yellowstone fans in a series Reddit thread: The branding for the show is out of control I’ve seen chili, beef jerky, hats, shirts, blankets, and a board game in just the last week or so. Can’t wait for the Yellowstone trailer hitch butt plug. Yesterday my wife came home from the store with Yellowstone coffee pods. Taylor should just get on a pole and be honest about it. Sellouts. A show about not selling out does it at every chance they get. Marketing to that Duck Dynasty crowd. Waiting for Yellowstone toilet paper before I try the chili. Are they going to sell garbage cans with the logos on them or even just Taylor Sheridan's face? Show has become a parody of itself... Shame, the first seasons were really good Cant blame them; so many stupid people will buy the worst products simply because of a label or it being a fad. Only a matter of time when they make 100% pure bullsh*t from Yellowstone lawn fertilizer. Taylor Sheridan is a serious grifter. So serious, honestly, that I have to respect the grift. Ol' dbag has to pay for the 6’s someway now that the show is done. Season 1: rejecting excess corporatism and valuing core principles over tourist money. Season 5: Yellowstone Chili! Taylor Sheridan be all “Hi, I like money!” Shaq levels of product placement Taylor Sheridan is a money whore first. Producer/Creator of quality programming distant second. This one cracked me up: John Dutton said they needed to make the Yellowstone known outside just the valley. This is his dream. Now to be fair, a number of people on the comments said the chili and the some of the spice blends were pretty good. I won't be trying it... no shade. The other disclaimer on this rant is that the 6666's is real working ranch... it makes sense that they would have braded products, especially meat products. You sell cows, people eat cows... it makes perfect sense: https://www.instagram.com/p/DCz0n4vOVO3/
