Got a ring in the offseason.
Ryan Blaney seems to be enjoying his time away from the track after the
NASCAR Cup Series season ended last month. The 2023 Cup Series champion revealed this weekend that he finally tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Gianna Tulio.
The couple first met back in 2018 at Loser's Bar in Las Vegas (Blaney's a BIG country music guy, so this checks out) when the driver of the #12 car for Team Penske was in town for a NASCAR race, while Tulio was there for a modeling job with Hooters. They obviously hit it off, and Blaney popped the question last December.
The two tied the knot exactly a year after getting engaged, hosting a winter-themed wedding at the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colorado.
Of course the wedding was attended by several of Blaney's fellow NASCAR drivers, including Chase Elliott, Bubba Wallace, Daniel Hemric and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Tulio tells
People that it was important for the couple to keep the wedding intimate because of Blaney's schedule during the NASCAR season:
"Spending quality time with all of our loved ones is super important to us, so we wanted to keep the wedding as intimate as possible. With Ryan being a professional NASCAR driver, we are on the road every weekend almost every month out of the year, so we value every second we can get with our friends and family."
As for the menu, the couple had a Colorado flair for their guests to enjoy: Along with chicken, there was also sage-and-thyme-roasted bison served up at the reception.
Sounds like it was a helluva party.
Earlier this season, Blaney earned what he called some "easy brownie points" with Gianna's family when they went to their first-ever NASCAR Cup Series race - and her then-fiancé ended up winning the race:
"Her dad was here, a couple of her nephews and aunts and uncles. So there was about eight of them here today, so that was neat to share that with them. It’s always cool to have family at your races...
A couple of them, it was their first time to a race in general, and it was their first time to victory lane. Like, that’s the coolest experience ever.
Brownie points, all day. That’s just easy, easy brownie points. It’s cool to share it with them, that’s for sure, future family. It’s neat to share those experiences and have those memories for many years."
The 2023 Cup Series champ almost went back to back, after the 2024 championship race at Phoenix ended up being a two-man battle between Blaney and his Team Penske teammate Joey Logano. In the closing laps of the race, Blaney managed to erase a 3 second lead and run down Logano, who was leading the race.
But after catching him with just a handful of laps to go, Blaney was never able to make the pass that mattered, allowing Logano to cruise to victory and become one of just 10 drivers in NASCAR history to win at least three championships.
We also had the chance to sit down with Blaney while he was in Nashville for the Ally 400 this summer to talk about all things country music, his friendship with Whiskey Myers, and even the potential of a Ryan Blaney-penned country song sometime in the future.
