![Utah dealership crash]()
Well now they're definitely not going to take the car back.
Obviously buying a car can be a frustrating process. You have to sit across from a slick-talking salesman and try to negotiate just to get a few hundred dollars knocked off the payment, or you sit there the whole time wondering what's wrong with the used car and why the guy's so excited to get you to sign on the bottom line. It's not exactly fun, but it is what it is, and at the end you at least get a new car (and probably an expensive monthly payment) out of the whole experience.
But apparently this guy in Utah didn't really care for his new ride after driving it off the lot.
Wild video from Tim Dahle Mazda Southtowne in Sandy, Utah shows a man driving his car straight through the door and into the dealership after apparently being refused a refund on the vehicle.
According to
police, the man later identified as 35-year old Michael Lee Murray had been in the dealership earlier that day to buy the Subaru Outback. But after getting it home, he apparently wasn't happy with the condition of the car and tried to return it to get a refund.
But the dealership informed the less-than-satisfied customer that the car had been sold "as is," and he wouldn't be getting a refund.
So Murray warned them that he was going to take matters into his own hands:
"Murray returned to request his money back and to return the vehicle that he had bought. However, staff advised Murray that he bought the vehicle 'as is' and the vehicle cannot be returned in exchange for his money back. Murray told the manager that since they are not giving his money back he was going to drive his vehicle through the front doors."
And as it turns out, that's just what he did.
Video shows the man take direct aim at the dealership's front doors before flooring it and driving straight through the door, running over the front desk in the process for hopping out and walking back out through the now-missing door:
"I warned you, huh? I told you motherfuckers."
I mean to be fair, he did warn them.
Shocked employees shut off the car after making sure that nobody was hit, and quickly called the police to deal with the wild scene.
According to the police report:
"Murray's vehicle was completely inside the building. The front doors were now inside the building, there was glass shattered all around where Murray's vehicle was and some pieces of the door and door frame had hit another vehicle that was in the showroom, causing damage to the side of that vehicle as well."
The man told police that he was upset because the dealer had "sold him a lemon," but as it turns out, that wasn't the proper way to handle things or return the car.
Murray was ultimately arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and economic interruption.
I think it's safe to say he's not going to be getting that refund now.
