‘Yellowstone’ Fans Can’t Figure Out Why Lloyd’s Last Name Changed In Final Season

Yellowstone

Yellowstone seems to be limping to the finish line, does it not? At least when it comes to the show's continuity and production gaffes. The post-John-Dutton storyline itself has been quite the rollercoaster, but it appears that Taylor Sheridan and the show's writers spent so much time trying to figure out how to tie up all of the loose ends that the show's attention to detail has been lacking. For example, Yellowstone fans realized that there was quite the production gaffe in the latest episode titled "Counting Coup" - which showcased the full-on badassery of Kayce Duton. His character served a entire decade as a member of the United States Navy SEAL Team, and Sheridan rarely ever decides to flex that muscle. That is until last week's episode when Kayce made a bold move (trying not to spoil anything) and all of that Navy SEAL experience was in full force. It was a great and instantly memorable scene... but sharp-eyed Yellowstone viewers realized that it might have been undercut a bit by the production gaffe that you can see by taking a close look at the photo below: [caption id="attachment_610747" align="alignnone" width="1024"]Yellowstone cars Paramount Network[/caption] Pretty rare for two cars to have the exact same Texas license plate, eh? Not to mention there were mountains in the background in the shot before it (they're supposed to be near Houston). But it's a good thing that's all Yellowstone has had an issue with in its final season, right? Right? In the last couple of weeks, fans of the show have also realized that the series made a huge mistake in its first episode back from the mid-season-five break. A lot of you are probably reading that and saying, "Yeah, John Dutton isn't in the show anymore!" That's obviously a glaring mistake, though it couldn't be avoided. What I'm instead bringing to light is the fact that they straight up appeared to change the last name of Forrie J. Smith's beloved character Lloyd. In all of the episodes leading up to "Desire Is All You Need," Lloyd's last name in the show was referred to as Pierce. That's even how the character is credited on Smith's IMDB page. But when Lloyd asked Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) to help him out for a while in Pampa, Texas, the longtime Dutton foreman asks loriner Billy Klapper for an order from "Lloyd Bridger." That's a funny way to pronounce "Pierce," is it not? Now obviously, there could be some explanations for this last name change that have yet to be revealed or elaborated on. It's possible that Lloyd was using an alias this whole time, which seems like the creative way to skate by mistake if Yellowstone decides to address it. Or maybe we'll see a long, drawn out flashback of Lloyd going to the courthouse to legally change his name at some point in the final episodes? With all of the painstaking flashbacks the show has been riddled with this season, I wouldn't put it past them. For now though, a beloved character in the show just had their name changed with only a few episodes to go in the series. What is purposeful? Or what is just another gaffe that can be added to the somewhat concerning list of errors that have plagued the show from the very beginning? Surely there is enough budget for the western hit drama to have someone there on set looking out for continuity mishaps in the story. Luckily for them, all of us Yellowstone fans have got the mistakes and production gaffes covered.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMWt9wAGmT8&pp=ygURbGxveWQgeWVsbG93c3RvbmU%3D
