Fans Express Concern For NFL Legend Randy Moss After He Steps Away From ESPN Due To Health Issues

Randy Moss

Praying for one of the GOATs. I graduated from Marshall University so I'm a little biased, but Randy Moss is obviously in the conversation for greatest wide receiver of all time. During his college career, the West Virginia native led the Thundering Herd to an undefeated season during his first year at Marshall, and a 25-3 record during his two years in Huntington. Moss scored at least one touchdown in all 28 of his college games and was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 1997 before declaring for the NFL Draft, ultimately being taken in the first round of the draft by the Minnesota Vikings. His skill on the field was often overshadowed by his antics, but during his 14-year career in the NFL that included stints with not only the Vikings but also the New England Patriots, the then-Oakland Raiders, the Tennessee Titans and the San Francisco 49ers, Moss set the NFL record for the most touchdown receptions in a season and retired with the highest career yards per catch average of any player in the NFL. He was also selected for the Pro Bowl six times during his NFL career, is second all time in touchdown receptions and fourth all time in receiving yards, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame back in 2018. Simply put, he's one of the greatest to ever do it. I mean, nobody is ever going to match this stat line: https://twitter.com/TotalProSports/status/1862150981225480501 Since retiring from the NFL after the 2012 season, Moss has stayed busy not only with his charity work and helping out his community in West Virginia (including opening a short-lived chicken restaurant back in Huntington), but he's also served as an analyst for ESPN since 2016 when he was brought on to join the cast of Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown. But unfortunately, health concerns are forcing Randy Moss to take a step back. In an Instagram post this past weekend, Moss revealed that he's been "battling something internal" and asked for prayers, while also urging men in particular to stay on top of their health: "All you men, man, you do your checkups, get your bloodwork done, and we'll work through it, alright?" The statement seemed to be in response to concerns that had been raised over Randy's eyes during a previous show, which appeared yellow and raised concerns that Moss was experiencing jaundice. https://twitter.com/mcpapen/status/1860725046484033694 https://twitter.com/ChrisandPip/status/1860695952631238846 https://twitter.com/mymixtapez/status/1863340707983003912 Of course jaundice can be a sign of issues with the liver or pancreas, and could be a clue that something serious is going on. And today, ESPN announced that Moss would be taking a leave of absence from Sunday NFL Countdown to deal with whatever health issues he has going on: "Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss will step away from Sunday NFL Countdown for an extended time to focus on a personal health challenge. He briefly addressed the matter at the start of the show on Dec. 1. For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating Countdown with his insight and passion. He has ESPN's full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready." https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1865064006458790393 And many fans, as well as plenty of current and former NFL players and others from around the sports world, expressed their support for Randy as he faces these challenges: https://twitter.com/Vikings/status/1865069457745342763 https://twitter.com/HerdFB/status/1865092460419903748 https://twitter.com/danorlovsky7/status/1865064178756526241 https://twitter.com/MartySmithESPN/status/1865087977828794706 https://twitter.com/RGIII/status/1865076616553980273 https://twitter.com/athielen19/status/1865090152500203652 https://twitter.com/Michele_Tafoya/status/1865122703197286444 Here's to hoping that whatever he's battling gets "Mossed," like so many others have, and that he's back on ESPN soon.
