![Mike Leach’s Anti-CFP-Committee Rant Goes Viral (Once Again) After Alabama Sneaks Into College Football Playoff Projection]()

Mike Leach was a national treasure.
We lost the legendary football coach back in 2022 at the age of 61, and ever since then, a zany, unique voice of reason has been missing from the world of college football. Thankfully, he left behind a ton of words of wisdom (
like how candy corn sucks) that we can always look back on and live by.
Personally, I really appreciate that his post game interviews or memorable press conference moments just pop up every now and again. And with the College Football Playoff on the horizon, his all-time-classic rant against the CFP Committee has surfaced once again.
Leach never liked the idea of a College Football Playoff Committee, nor did he like the idea that the "playoff" only consisted of four teams. He'd probably love the fact that college football's postseason tournament has expanded to 12 teams, but I know he'd still have a bone to pick with the committee that decides who fills those 12 spots.
There are only a few conference championship games left this upcoming weekend to help finalize the first ever 12-team College Football Playoff. Fans are hoping that there are some real shake ups, because as of right now, a three-loss Alabama team was selected - by the willy-nilly committee (thank you very much) - over some teams that have only suffered two losses.

No one expected Alabama to be included, yet when the CFP Committee released their rankings, there they were. One fan immediately thought of Leach's anti-committee rant that he went on back in the early days of the expanded four-team format. Though it has since changed to 12-teams, Mike's disdain with the committee and who it's made up of still holds up to this day.
Especially as college football fans are questioning the decision making - and potential underlying motivations - of the CFP Committee
"If we were so smart, wouldn’t all the other sports say, ‘I know, let’s have a committee. Cause why not? Cause we’re American, we love committees. Let’s get us a committee. Well who should be on the committee? Well, I don’t know, this guy’s a good guy, let’s have him on the committee.' There's people on the committee that don't even have remote associations with football, nor have they at any level - other than being a fan.
'But you know what? Let's have them on a committee. Why not? It would be fun, we could go to that resort, we could talk, we could hang out at dinner. And then we'll decide which teams should go. You know why? Cause we don't need to solve this on the field... because we're the ones that know!'"

It really is interesting that a group of randomly collected people get to make decisions on which college teams go to the playoffs. You might as well just call people for jury duty and then tell them they have to decide if Alabama or Miami gets the 11th seed.
One of the teams that was snubbed, or at least appears likely to be snubbed, is Ole Miss. And guess who retweeted/reposted the viral tweet featuring the Mike Leach rant? Ole Miss' Head Coach Lane Kiffin. The user who posted the Alabama screenshot and Mike Leach speech made sure to point that out in the reply section:

Like I said, there's still some games to be played, so the College Football Playoff bracket isn't set in stone just yet. But once it is, and Alabama questionably squeaks in just because their the Crimson Tide, you best believe that some fanbases that feel deserving (and fans that dislike Alabama) will rise up and let the CFP Committee hear it.
While I was putting this story together, I was trying to figure out a solution to the CFP Committee, and someone by the name of Sean Sullivan had an idea that hit the nail right on the head. If only we could still make it happen:

Amen. RIP Mike Leach.
