Cigarette-Smoking LPGA Fan-Favorite Charley Hull Praises Donald Trump: “I Wish He Was Head Of The UK”

Remember when sports and politics didn't mix? That certainly seems like the distant future now as more and more politics have seeped into sports. As of late, much of that has come in the form of support for President-elect Donald Trump. Since he won back the White House in the 2024 Presidential Election, there has been a flurry of pro athletes copying his "Trump Dance," which is really just a subtle movement of the upper extremity and arms. There’s no telling how many people have discovered their new favorite LPGA Tour golfer in the past couple of months. It all started when the 28-year-old pro golfer was spotted ripping a cigarette while signing autographs at the Women’s U.S. Open. Hull went on to rip darts while she was throwing darts (hitting golf balls close to the pin) at the U.S. Open, tried to quit smoking by vaping, autographed a cigarette for a fan, skipped one of her practice rounds to go drink and watch sports at a pub, and most recently borrowed a lighter from a fan while she was preparing for the Solheim Cup. That's one hell of a "Greatest Hits" compilation right there. Charley Hull added to that list last week when she hit the Trump Dance as she was walking down the fairway alongside World No. 1 golfer Nelly Korda. Just like all of the other athletes that are showing their support for former-and-soon-to-be President Donald Trump, Hull broke into the arm-flinging dance both to celebrate and shoutout Trump's signature dance move. After playing the first round of the CME Group Tour Championship this past Thursday, someone asked Hull - who is from England - what her thoughts were on President-elect Donald Trump. According to Outkick, she had nothing but good things to say: "I love Trump. I think he’s brilliant. The LPGA Tour golfer that has captured the attention (and hearts) of so many went on to say that as an Englishwoman, she wishes that Donald Trump was in charge of the United Kingdom: "I wish he was head of the U.K. I just like him as a person. He’s a little better than our Prime Minister." Dang... throwing some shade at current U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer. I wonder if anyone debriefed the Prime Minister on this topic? I would imagine it would have gone something like, "Sir, we've lost Charley Hull. She's a Trump supporter now."
