UFC’s Dana White Says He Won’t Get Involved With Politics Ever Again: “It’s Gross… It’s Disgusting”

Dana White Trump

UFC President and CEO Dana White is going to stick to what he knows best: organizing cage fights where people beat the hell out of each other. In White's mind, the Ultimate Fighting Championship - albeit violent - is a lot easier to handle than the world of politics. Is that concerning? I'll leave that for you (the reader) to decide, but that's not exactly promising to hear. People punching and kicking each other? White says, "Sign me up." Leading the country to a greater future through by holding political office? White says, "Hard pass." This all comes from a recent quote that Dana White provided to the New Yorker. It was in the interview that the UFC President talked about his fighting league, how he very well could have helped Trump appeal to young male voters, and how "disgusting" he finds politics. Again, I just find it very amusing that someone who sanctions gruesome, brutal fights is appalled by America's political system. White has been associated with the UFC since 2001 (the UFC itself formed in 1993). He pointed out in the interview that long before his political career, Donald Trump was a big supporter of the fighting league: "As the UFC has grown, there’s been a lot of people that have jumped on the bandwagon and became fans. Trump was there from the beginning." Now, the UFC is seen as a premier global sports brand, and their fights draw in crowds that feature some of the biggest celebrities on the planet. One person that you'll often see sitting ringside is none other than former-and-soon-to-be President Donald Trump. Number 45/47 was sitting ringside with Elon Musk and Kid Rock this past weekend, and the legendary Jon Jones handed Trump his heavyweight championship belt: https://twitter.com/margomartin/status/1858037538243383784 The President elect and Dana White have been close friends for over 25 years, and when Trump narrowly avoided an assassination attempt back in July, the UFC CEO was one of the first to commend Trump's powerful response: “I’ve been saying this forever about this guy. He is one of the toughest, most resilient human beings that I’ve ever met in my life. Let me tell you what… everybody wants to act like a tough guy. Well, when the sh*t goes down, you find out who tough guys are and who tough guys are not. This guy is the legitimate, ultimate American badass of all time. A guy takes a shot at him, he goes down, he stands up and then he starts chanting to the crowd, ‘Fight, fight, fight.’ I was literally blown away.” As were many Americans. From that moment on, it seemed like Dana White was really making an effort to help Donald Trump in any way that he could. The UFC President was even there when Trump officially won back the Presidency, and Donald gave Dana a few minutes to talk during his victory speech. Despite all of that success, White still seems to feel a deep repugnance to politics as a whole. White told the New Yorker that even though he was happy to play a role in helping Trump win back the White House, he's done being involved in politics: "I’m never f**king doing this again. I want nothing to do with this sh*t. It’s gross. It’s disgusting. I want nothing to do with politics." Of course, now that his buddy Trump is set for another term, his final term, perhaps Dana White just isn't interested anymore... Either way, the job is done. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1858209912691572779
