As the Kansas City Chiefs were preparing to host and eventually beat the New Orleans Saints 26-13 in Week 5's edition of Monday Night Football, their biggest stars faced some trouble at home.
According a report by TMZ, the homes of both Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were robbed back in early October as the Chiefs kept their still-undefeated season rolling along. Those break-ins have compelled the FBI to launch an investigation into what TMZ sources said is thought to be a larger crime spree around where the KC stars live.

Mahomes' residence was the first one to be hit by the burglars, and per TMZ, it's unclear what was taken. In Kelce's case, damage was done to the back door, and $20,000 cash was seized by the thieves.
The TMZ report states that Mahomes' robbery was reported to police at midnight on October 6, while Kelce's break-in occurred "around 7:33 p.m." local time on October 7 — not long after the Saints game got underway. So if I'm reading that right, these break-ins occurred on the same day, about 20 hours apart give or take.
We'll see if local police can corral these scheming bandits, who are as fearless as they are utterly stupid. Trying to steal from the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce? Really? First of all, that will garner you zero support in the local community. If you're gonna go full Robin Hood, don't go after Kansas City's foremost football heroes. Mahomes and Kelce are endearing to women, present themselves as "one of the guys" you could just chill and have a beer with.
Sorry. Pause. This was the next most relevant thing to pop up in a "Kelce Mahomes" X/Twitter search and I can't stop laughing.

Anyway, it's quite a surprise these break-ins managed to allegedly breach both properties. Those security systems at the Mahomes and Kelce homes have to be state of the art, right? I guess these cowardly schemers who've resorted to a life of crime got one thing right: If you're going to steal from anyone and heavily risk ruining your life in pathetic fashion, why not go big for an NFL quarterback who has a $500 million contract and the man who's dating the biggest pop star on the planet, Taylor Swift? Speaking of the Swift, per the report, she and Kelce didn't return to the latter's home after the Monday night game, opting instead for a Kansas City hotel in the downtown area.
Let's just be glad that no one from the Mahomes or Kelce households appear to have been harmed. We know for sure that Travis wasn't even home when the robbers got to his place. I wonder what the equivalent of Kelce losing $20,000 would equate to in my life. Probably best not to compare myself to someone around my age in that regard, lest some seriously dark nihilistic thoughts begin to take hold!
If the legal system weren't in place to take care of these fools, my dream punishment for them would be to attend Chiefs practice. Once there they'd be forced to rock all the gear, helmet, shoulder pads and all, and get on the practice field. Let them take turns on Oklahoma drills lined up opposite Mahomes and Kelce. You've got Killa Trav listed at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds. That would hurt bad enough. However, don't sleep on Mahomes in this admittedly outlandish hypothetical scenario. Dude can bring the hit stick, too.
