“Don’t Try To Get Me On That” – Michelle Beadle Accidentally Drops N-Word On FanDuel TV Show

Fan Duel sports

Michelle Beadle and Colin Cowherd used to crush it on ESPN's SportsNation show back when I was coming up and aspiring to work in the industry, so she's always got my respect for that. Beadle's outspoken nature has turned some people off, which I get to some degree, but I've never taken a ton of issue with most of the so-called controversy she's stirred. Anyway, just thought I'd preemptively cut Beadle some slack for this gaffe on FanDuel TV's Run It Back show, which she co-hosts with former NBA players Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams. In an otherwise straightforward segment about the Denver Nuggets and whether this season is the last one for their current core to make a championship run, Beadle dropped the N-word — the non-hard-R variety — by accident instead of saying, "Nuggets." You can tell Williams knew Beadle didn't have any malicious intent in what she said and that it was a total botch job on her part. He was cracking up and trying to just finish out his Nuggets-related take, but it was definitely a struggle. https://twitter.com/FearedBuck/status/1855247653673594994 Beadle immediately says, "Don't try to get me on that." She responds to Williams' take of "buying" that this season is indeed the Nuggets' so-called "Last Dance", indicating she doesn't like hearing that. Parsons then hits her with a zinger about her N-word blunder: "We didn't like hearing it, either!" and everyone erupts with laughter. Williams defuses any potentially tense situation by reassuring Beadle and Parsons not to worry, that he's got them "covered in the club" and that nobody's going to hold it against her. Sometimes people mess up and say things they don't intend to. I think we can all give Beadle the benefit of the doubt here. Now as for the Nuggets' championship window being closed after this season, I don't know if I buy that narrative. Feels like every time an NBA team wins a championship in recent years, we're rushing to anoint them the next dynasty, including the reigning champion Boston Celtics. The talent across the NBA is as stacked as it's been in my lifetime. Denver is off to a 6-3 start, which is plenty encouraging. To me, as long as Nikola Jokic is healthy and balling out, the Nuggets can play with anyone, anytime, any place. They just won the NBA Finals as recently as 2023, and in the latest playoffs, just ran into a piping-hot Timberwolves team at the wrong time. What can ya do? Denver's only high-profile free agent next summer is Russell Westbrook — if he uses his player option to opt out of his contract. Then, Aaron Gordon hits the open market in 2026. So why the rush to write off the Nuggets? I don't understand. Just surround Jokic with decent perimeter shooting, and you almost can't lose with any regularity. Maybe Jokic's borderline casual interest in the sport he dominates so thoroughly factors in? Do people think he's gonna retire super early? Come on. He's an elite player who's averaging a triple-double with ease through nine games this season, and in the last season of his current contract (2027-28), Jokic is due to make over $62.8 million. The man ain't gonna leave that kind of money on the table. Enjoy some Jokic highlights on your way out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ae-EUbvysA
