A phone-y campaign stunt?
Sorry, I couldn't resist. Like everybody else, I'm just sick of all the election stuff and ready for it to be over - including these fake campaign stunts.
Of course there was a big uproar a couple of weeks ago when former President Donald Trump made a stop at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania and the media tried to turn it into a big story about it being "staged." I mean, yeah, Trump didn't apply for a job at McDonald's in the middle of a presidential campaign, you got him. Not to mention the security and logistics of securing a public restaurant like that.
But Trump isn't the only one staging photo ops ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Last night, Vice President Kamala Harris was going around "knocking on doors" of voters to encourage them to get out and vote today. Except one of the networks caught her telling the (no doubt randomly selected) voters to go back inside because she wanted "to do a door knock."

It's all fake, it's all bullshit, and I'm ready for it to be over.
Luckily today is the final day of the campaign, but the candidates are both busy making their final push to get people to the polls. Or at least pretending to...
Many online are accusing the Democrat nominee of staging yet another "fake" campaign stunt, after Kamala Harris was shown on CSPAN stopping by a campaign office to "make calls to voters."
The problem is that after the voter (allegedly) told her that they had already voted for her, she held up the phone so that everybody in the room could cheer - and clearly showed that she had the camera app open and not...well, the phone.

Now, is it possible that she was on the phone and just also happened to have the camera app open? Sure, but why? That would have required dialing the phone, closing out of the phone app, and opening the camera app. Was that part caught on camera too?
Others have argued that the phone appears to go dark when she puts it back up to her ear, which would suggest that the proximity sensor kicked in as it does when you're on a phone call, but it's pretty hard to tell from the video what's happening on the screen when she puts the phone back up to her ear.
And let's be honest, even if she was on an actual phone call, do we really think the whole thing wasn't staged? Do you think they would take the risk of calling somebody if they didn't know 1) that they were voting for Harris, and 2) that they would actually pick up the phone?
The campaigns (on both sides) do their best to carefully control the image of their candidate, especially as it gets closer to the election.
Luckily, this is the last day we'll have to see any more of these (staged) campaign stunts - at least for a few years.
What do you think? Was this one fake?
