Pigging out on the garage beer, eh?
Forgive the cheap, low-hanging pun there. But in my defense, it's not everyday that you get to cover a story about a pig - named Strawberry - getting drunk off its Boston butt. I'm coming on a little strong with the pork-related jokes, right? I'll admit I don't feel hog-wild about all of them so far, but sometimes the jokes just write themselves.
Anyways, Morgan Mullins is the rightful owner of this pig, and she and her unique pet reside in Gill, Colorado. Strawberry is a 7-year-old Juliana pig that is free to roam around the hobby farm they call home, and when I say they, there is more than just Morgan and Strawberry, as Mullins told Newsweek:
"Her best friend is a duck - at least the duck thinks so - and she roams our small hobby farm doing what she pleases. She enjoys going in and out of the house as she wants, but she mostly prefers outside."
You'll see the duck make a hilarious appearance in the video once we get to it.
It was actually the duck that warned Mullins that something was going on out in the garage. When the pig owner finally got around to checking what all of the fuss was about, she was quickly reminded of a leftover stash of beer that she had in her garage from 4th of July festivities. Strawberry had discovered them at some point that night, and left behind a trail of evidence:
"When we went out, we found all the empty beer cans, and then a very drunk Strawberry."
Part of the evidence was the fact that Strawberry looked rough. The pet pig was stumbling, bumbling, and rumbling around the yard after consuming a number of different alcoholic products. My eye spotted these brands being those which Strawberry did a taste testing of sorts on:
-Wild Cider
-Fat Tire
-Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy
-Bud Light
If I missed any, feel free to let me know. There was also an empty water bottle mixed in, so let's give some credit to Strawberry for being a responsible drinker and mixing in some water throughout the night. The pet pig knew that even one bottle of water mixed in can be a life saver.
But for the most part, the friendly swine just stuck to the garage beers, and as the caption overlaid on the video states, Strawberry didn't hold back during her bender:
"Strawberry got into a case of assorted beers in the garage. She is so drunk."
First off, that's hilarious. I don't think I've ever seen a drunk pig, and Strawberry was definitely tipsy. Did you see that walk back towards her sleeping spot? There's no way Strawberry would be passing a field sobriety test with that kind of balance.
Second, I'd be worried if I were these Colorado pet owners. Last time we saw an animal go viral online, the government raided the house of a beloved, internet famous squirrel named P'Nut and euthanized the animal. This situation with Strawberry is obviously a little different from that whole story, but I'd still be watching the pet pig's back if I were its owners.
