“Everybody’s Worried About F***ing TikTok” – Former Alabama QB A.J. McCarron On What’s Wrong With The Crimson Tide Football Team

AJ McCarron Alabama football

Tell us how you really feel A.J. McCarron. It's been a while since McCarron sported the crimson and white, but that doesn't mean the former Crimson Tide quarterback has forgotten about the standard of Alabama football. A.J. played at Alabama from 2009 to 2013, during what one could argue was the height of the Crimson Tide dynasty. He led Alabama to back-to-back national championships in 2012 and 2013, so needless to say, McCarron knows a thing or two about playing winning football. And during a recent appearance on the McCready & Siskey show, he let it be known that he doesn't see that same, dynastic Alabama team on the field anymore. Did it leave with Nick Saban when he retired and head coach Kalen DeBoer stepped in? Possibly, though McCarron seemed to place more of the blame on the current college football landscape: "The standard that everybody was used to for so long after Alabama fans went through a bunch of hell leading up to those glorious years, I think it’s definitely a different era. I don’t think you’ll see the same standard from discipline, just things that the team seems to do. It’s a new day and age." As far as college football commentary goes, that was still pretty mundane from the former Bama quarterback (and more recent St. Louis Battlehawks legend). However, A.J. got a little more fiery as the interview went on, and decided to really go after some of the current players on the Crimson Tide for not having their priorities in order: "Everybody’s worried about f***ing TikTok and having a reel and being on highlights for their personal self and personal gain, and how much money they can get from NIL. We just didn’t have that s**t back then. It was a team sport. You came together as a team because you had one common goal, because you knew that’s how you were going to make your money, was by winning." Can't believe we're already at the point where A.J. McCarron is doing the "back in my day" routine. Am I that old? Seems like just yesterday he was doing the bare minimum at the QB position in order to lead Alabama to win-after-win-after-win... Anyways, you can hear more from the Alabama legend in the interview below: https://www.youtube.com/live/5D6NtfA5JO8?si=26L4gAY0duJE1WUk&t=697
