Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell Stars In Hilarious Applebee’s Commercial

The stock of Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell continues to rise. I don't know about you, but I can't get enough of Motor City Dan Campbell (MCDC). It's been cool to see his transformation over the past few seasons from punchline to playoff contender. He's come a long way from his introductory press conference, which mentioned a lot of "kneecap biting" if you don't remember. His Detroit Lions (AKA The Fighting Dan Campbells) have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations this upcoming season, and nothing screams the highest level of success like... Applebee's. Okay, that might be a stretch, but that was my attempt at a smooth segue from Dan Campbell's coaching career to Dan Campbell's commercial career. Earlier today, everyone's favorite neighborhood grill and bar (so they say) posted a hilarious advertisement just in time for the NFL season. The commercial has Campbell assuming the role of an Applebee's server, though some of his head coaching tendencies still shine through as he's taking an order. For the sake of the bit, the couple sitting at the table apparently don't recognize the Lions head coach as he walks up to their table - wearing a coaching headset, but otherwise in an Applebee's uniform - and says: "Welcome to Applebee's. Can I interest you in America's favorite boneless wings for just 50 cents each?" When Campbell says the latter part, he covers his mouth with his server book. When one of the customers starts to order, MCDC hilariously instructs them to cover their mouth too, so that others in the establishment can't "steal your order." Thus, the joke here is the head coaching paranoia of covering their mouths while calling plays, so that other teams can't play/sign steal and predict what's coming. All in all, it's a comical way to ring in the football season, and both Dan Campbell and Applebee's brought it with this one.
