Desmond Ridder Door Dash

It's NFL roster cut day. Today is the day where every team has to cut their teams down from 90-man rosters to 53-man rosters. That obviously means that a number of NFL hopefuls will be sent packing by the franchises, and as always, a couple of surprising cuts will take place. It's still relatively early in the proceedings and there are already some big names that have been cut by their respective teams. Like the infamous wide receiver out of Kansas City, Kadarius Toney. Remember when his abhorrent play got him meme-ed into oblivion last season? Well this year, it appears he won't even be on a roster - at least to start out the season: https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1828486189533307152 And another relatively big name that didn't make his team's cut was Desmond Ridder, who was fighting for a backup spot with the Arizona Cardinals. You might remember him as the "starter" last year for the Atlanta Falcons, who selected him in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. When it didn't exactly work out with the Falcons, he was forced to try and find a place with another team. Sometimes fresh starts are good for struggling athletes, but it didn't work out this time around for Ridder. It was announced earlier that he too was getting released as a part of the roster trim down: https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1828473067447669240 Getting released (basically losing your job) is already bad enough, but Ridder's cut is getting a little bit more attention because of an Door Dash advertisement that he shot last year when he was a starter. The commercial refers to Ridder as a "Dasher/Football Player," and now social media is basically saying you can drop the "football player portion." The internet can be a ruthless place, but then again, you have to expect that an ad like this could come back to bite you if times got hard: https://twitter.com/_MLFootball/status/1828479325449937359 Oof... As you might imagine, social media is running with this one, and the jokes at the expense of Ridder are flooding NFL Twitter (or X, whatever you want to call it):
