DNC Cameraman Savagely Pans To Maryland Delegate After Oprah Makes Comment About A “Childless Cat Lady”

Who would have thought cameramen at political events could be so savage? The Democratic National Convention is in full swing, and, like the Republican National Convention, the cameramen are not holding back when it comes to capturing people's reactions. At the RNC, new channels highlighted a split-screen view capturing the audience's response during Kid Rock's performance, hilariously focusing on Melania Trump's less-than-impressed reaction. That, combined with the pans to the audience dressed in business professional attire, not rocking out at all to "American Bad A**," made for top-tier TV watching. It's no secret our nation is divided politically; there was no favoring one party over another, and the camera operators at the DNC were also serving up some hilarious speaker/performer-to-audience cuts. Last night was the convention's third night, and Oprah Winfrey (who is registered as an Independent) was the evening guest speaker. During one section of her keynote, she touched on the racial divide and how she has witnessed it and been on the receiving end of it, but at the end of the day, humans come together to help each other out in times of need. "I've seen racism and sexism and income inequality and division. I've not only seen it, at times I've been on the receiving end of it. But more often than not, what I've witnessed and experienced are human beings, both conservative and liberal, who may not agree with each other, but who'd still help you in a heartbeat if you were in trouble." She then says that we are not different from our neighbors, using a "house on fire" metaphor to show that although you might have different political views of those around you, you still jump in to help those in need. "When a house is on fire, we don't ask about the homeowner's race or religion. We don't wonder who their partner is or how they voted. No, we just try to do the best we can to save them. And if the place happens to belong to a childless cat lady — well, we try to get that cat out too." It's a pretty decent metaphor for bringing the nation together, right? The "childless cat lady" comment was a direct dig at JD Vance for a comment he made during a 2021 interview saying our nation was being run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.” Since the keynote speech, the internet has been cackling because, after that segment, the cameramen panned to a woman in the crowd who was in the audience as a solo attendee, giving the vibe that she was a "childless cat lady." While I am not going to comment on whether this woman looks like a "childless cat lady," the internet is having a heyday with how savage the cameramen were for stereotyping this woman as one. The woman was quickly identified as Teresa Woorman — a District 16 delegate at the Maryland House of Delegates. Woorman quickly saw the clip going viral on social media and responded with a good sense of humor (apparently confirming that she is indeed, a childless cat lady). https://twitter.com/Teresa_Saavedra/status/1826491402655498634 She expanded on her thoughts in a reply on the thread, noting: "Also- funny enough, I recently got appointed to a legislative seat. And I got sworn into the Maryland House of Delegates last week and I referred to myself as a childless cat lady during my remarks. But I’m in good company, Taylor Swift & Oprah."  At least she has a good sense of humor about it all.
