USC wide receiver Brenden Rice probably didn't even have to pack his bags when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers.
The move for him will be easy, but the day he was drafted was hard in many different ways. For one, the talented wide out plummeted all the way down to the seventh round of the NFL Draft, and was chosen with the 225th pick.
Just last season, the 22-year-old was named to the Second Team All-PAC 12 after leading USC with 12 receiving touchdowns. It was undoubtedly difficult for Rice to wait that long for his name to be called.
But the more challenging thing that Brenden Rice was facing was the death of his best friend, Keith Miller III, who passed away a little over two weeks ago. Miller was a former wide receiver for Colorado before transferring and playing two years at Texas A&M University-Commerce. He passed away on April 13 and was found in his apartment.
According to the story, Rice had gotten up the morning he was drafted to catch a 5 A.M. flight to Dallas to be a pallbearer and give the obituary speech for his late friend.
As the video explains below, it was all bittersweet for Rice. Later on in the day when the young football player was at the airport preparing to catch a flight back home from the funeral in Dallas, his phone rang, and the Los Angeles Chargers were on the other end of the call.
The emotional moment was all captured on camera, and can be viewed in the post below:

That right there is why you can't help but love sports. Nothing can take away the pain and grief that Rice is experiencing after the loss of his best friend, but having a lifelong dream fulfilled certainly helped to lift the spirits of the young wide receiver.
Needless to say, Brenden Rice is excited to be a Los Angeles Charger, and sent out this message to make it known that was "charged up" to be selected by Jim Harbaugh's team:
