![Tim Walz Zyn]()
This might be the issue that costs him the election.
Earlier this week, Vice President and Democrat nominee for president Kamala Harris announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. And honestly, I didn't know a ton about Walz before then. I know he was governor when rioters burned down Minneapolis back in 2020, but that was about it.
But of course now, the rest of the country is starting to learn about the man who wants to be our next Vice President. And one issue in particular has really struck a nerve: Zyn.
Now, if you're somehow not familiar with Zyn, the tobacco-free nicotine pouches have become the most popular alternative to smoking and vaping, and have developed a cult-like following over the past couple of years. (And yes, I have one in right now).
The tobacco-free pouches are so popular that they've become hard to find in some areas, and the manufacturer recently announced plans to ramp up production with a new factory to meet the massive demand.
But for some reason, Tim Walz apparently wants to take that away from us.
As governor of Minnesota, Walz imposed a whopping 95% tax on the little happy pouches.
Prior to this year, the state's tobacco tax only covered...you know, tobacco. But earlier this year, the state amended the definition of "moist snuff," which is subject to the tax, to include other "similar tobacco-free products containing nicotine." Which includes Zyn.
The result is a tin of Zyn is now nearly $10 in Minnesota, versus under $5 in most of the country.
I'm sorry, I thought this was America?
Well naturally once the internet found out that Walz is coming for their Zyn, they weren't happy:

Now, I'll admit I wasn't going to vote for the guy in the first place? But a 95% tax? Zyn is not a sin.
