Luana Alonso didn't have the best showing at the Summer Olympics, and the 20-year-old Paraguayan swimmer's issues were compounded when she got ejected from the Olympic Village for "creating an inappropriate atmosphere" within the team.
Per the
New York Post, Paraguay's Olympic committee leader Larissa Schaerer had this to say about Alonso's purported unbecoming behavior, which reportedly included going to Disneyland instead of supporting her teammates:
"Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay. We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village."
Well OK. Given how much of a sex-positive free-for-all the Athletes' Village is purported to be, I thought the alleged inappropriateness could've been something in that vein. After all, Paris is often cited as the most romantic city in the world. There's no shortage of Greek deity physiques to go around where the athletes are staying. Very few other people on the planet, if any, can identify with what they go through during four years of training for this one shining Olympic moment.
I mean who's to say that some of that
didn't happen and the Paraguay Olympic Committee is just presenting a sanitized version to the public, but hey, no need for reckless speculation. We'll just stick to the facts here.

In an
Instagram post from last week, Alonso announced her retirement from swimming in a quick caption, translated below:
"It's official now! I'm retiring from swimming, thank you all very much for the support! Sorry Paraguay. I just have to say thank you!"
Not sure what her plans entail beyond aquatic sports...
Something tells me Alonso will be just fine given that she has north of half a million IG followers, where she posts pics such as these:

Twenty-six total posts and
this many followers? Alonso must be a legend back in Paraguay.
Anyway, how cool of a scenario would this be? At 20 years old, knowing you're finished with your swimming days, but you still have time to kill in Paris and the Olympic Village? That's the ultimate set of circumstances to engage in "brat summer" behavior — can't believe I just went there, WTF is happening to me? — and all-out debauchery.
Or maybe Alonso just kept it classy and only stuck to rebellious Disneyland excursions. Hanging in suspense to hear about Alonso's misadventures if she ever comments on them publicly.
