“Never Say Never”– Simone Biles Hints At Competing In 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics Amid Dominant Paris Performance

Simone Biles

Simone Biles still has two final events left in the Paris Olympics, but given how she's head and shoulders above her competition at the advanced gymnast age of 27, many assumed this would be her last Summer Games appearance. As Lee Corso would say, "Not so fast, my friend!" Since the Summer Olympics are headed to Los Angeles in 2028, Biles isn't ruling out hitting the mat if only because it'll be in her native land. https://twitter.com/NBCOlympics/status/1820109956336545795 Of course by "really old" Biles means that relative to typical gymnasts, who often peak in their teens or early 20s. She'll be in her early 30s by the time the LA Summer Games get underway, yet does anyone really doubt that Biles would be able to stand on the podium at the very least, if not rip off another epic run of gold medals? The downside to this emerging narrative is that many outsiders are so caught up in the upside of Biles' future that they're struggling to appreciate the all-time great performance that's unfolding in real time. Biles addressed this on her own X/Twitter account — with a great joke to boot about what lies ahead. https://twitter.com/Simone_Biles/status/1820027668307271920 https://twitter.com/Simone_Biles/status/1820027987619635411 Monday's floor exercise and balance beam finals give Biles a shot to add to her Paris Olympics medal collection, which already includes gold in the team competition, the individual all-around, and the vault. That brings her career total to 10 Olympic medals, featuring seven golds, two silvers and a bronze. Given that she qualified first in the floor exercise and second on the balance beam, it's not a stretch to think she'll run that gold total up to nine by tomorrow's end. Despite the "twisties" issue that derailed most of her run at the 2020 Tokyo Games, and a two-year hiatus from competition, Biles has been dialed in this time around. There aren't enough superlatives to describe how awesome she's been, but this work of art from NBC Sports comes pretty close to capturing the essence. https://twitter.com/NBCSports/status/1819871626638356570 So yeah Simone, we'll have our popcorn ready for Monday, but on behalf of all Americans, please consider suiting up one last time in Los Angeles. Think you might still have just a little bit left in the tank for one last Olympics. https://twitter.com/NBCOlympics/status/1819749445522588125
