![Kurt Russell]()
Fans of
Yellowstone... I've got some good news and some bad news.
The good news is that Taylor Sheridan is cooking up another western-themed spinoff, and he's reportedly got some pretty big names attached to it already.
According to
TV Line, the accomplished Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell are close to signing on to star in the sequel show. Patrick J. Adams, who many TV fans might know from
Suits, is also set to sign onto the new spinoff.

Previous reports suggested that the spinoff would be called "2024," but TV Line is now saying that Sheridan and company have pivoted on the title and it'll be named "The Madison." As far as plot is concerned, the series is supposed to revolve around the titular character of Stacy Clyburn, a wealthy matriarch who upends her life in New York City to move her and her family to Montana following a plane crash that kills her husband and brother-in-law.
I know, I know... you are patiently reading along and asking, "So what's the bad news?" Well, if you look at previous reports about this sequel, many had the charming
Matthew McConaughey attached to the role that is now presumably being filled by Kurt Russell. McConaughey's connection to the series is now in question, as one can only assume that the show runners went with Russell instead, for whatever reason (
possibly financial).
There were also rumblings that current
Yellowstone stars Luke Grimes (who plays Kayce), Cole Hauser (who plays Rip Wheeler) and Kelly Reilly (who plays Beth) would
transition over to the sequel series, but there's no word or reporting on the involvement of those characters. But the biggest news about the series by far is that Russell is potentially replacing McConaughey as the star.
It's also very possible that this is an independent spinoff, and that McConaughey could still still star in ANOTHER modern-day spinoff of the original
Yellowstone, perhaps the long-rumored 6666's Ranch spinoff we've heard about for years now.
Yellowstone's fifth and final season is
set to wrap up and air at the end of this year, after many significant delays and the now infamous will-he-won't-he back and forth with the show's star, Kevin Costner. One of the other spinoffs in the Yellowstone Universe -
1923 - is
currently filming it's second season in Austin, Texas.
