Robbie Chosen

In the wake of Tua Tagovailoa's massive contract extension, I thought the juicy news related to the Miami Dolphins was finished for a Summer Friday. Instead, we have a juicy tidbit of intel from ex-Fins wide receiver Robbie Chosen regarding Tua's top two targets. Chosen backtracked almost quicker than he blurted it out, but as he told Keyshawn Johnson on the All Facts No Brakes podcast — dubious name, Key, given some of your horrible Bengals takes but go off — Jaylen Waddle allegedly beat Tyreek Hill in a footrace last season. https://twitter.com/FinsXtra/status/1816966190239256959 Tyreek is nicknamed The Cheetah for a reason. Disappointing playoff performance aside, he helped me win my fantasy league, which is the most important thing here. Trust that he's back on the squad for 2024. Anyway, in each of his first two seasons as a Dolphin, Tyreek racked up 119 receptions. Just absurd production. Part of the reason he's open so often is his seemingly one-of-one speed. There are a dizzying amount of Hill highlights out there that showcase just how swiftly he can break away from an opposing secondary, this being one of many such occasions: https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1731377388444078481 But it's possible that Tyreek is not only not the fastest man in the NFL/to ever put on football pads. It's possible he's not even the fastest dude in his own locker room. If I had to put money on it, I'd say Tyreek is faster. However, I will say that I remember watching practice footage of Waddle going into his second NFL season and thinking that I'd maybe never seen someone explode out of his breaks on routes so fast. There's also this field-level touchdown against the Jets during last year's in-season Hard Knocks that showcases Waddle's abundant explosiveness. https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1737299279969145009 I understand that the Dolphins were going down the stretch of a grueling season by the time HBO's cameras were rolling, but how did we not get treated to a Reek-Waddle sprint-off during practices? Hey HBO/Max, wanna see your streaming numbers, viewership and social media channels explode? Do that. The Pro Bowl Games are kinda cool, but what's to stop the NFL from spicing up their former All-Star game week by pitting all the fleetest of foot players against each other in a sprinting competition? That way we'd know for sure who the fastest man in the NFL is any given year. Also, with the absurd arm talents of Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and other physical freak shows, miss me with all the "Precision Passing" challenges. Give me stuff like this throwback clip of Jim Harbaugh just chucking the ball as far as he possibly can with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. https://twitter.com/WoodsFootball/status/1613243193461542912 ...For purposes of this story, though, tell me this vintage vid of Herschel Walker and Darrell Green isn't compelling as hell. And tell me you wouldn't love to see Tyreek and Waddle doing the same thing. https://twitter.com/_RyanFowler_/status/1603774460716191745 With all the speed Mike McDaniel and the Dolphins have accumulated of late, they should just take the initiative themselves. Get Reek, Waddle, Raheem Mostert, De'Von Achane, rookie Jaylen Wright, and whoever else. Throw Odell out there! See if he's still got it! I'm telling y'all, most successful social stories ever, as long as all the prospective participants agree to do it.
