![Tiger Woods]()
Tiger Woods begins his week at The Open a bit distracted and sleep deprived.
The 15-time Major winner is teeing off in 23rd British Open, which is being hosted at the historic Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland - a club that's 146 years old. For golf fans, the year's last major is always bittersweet, but it's always wonderful to turn championship golf on in the morning and take it in along with a cup of coffee.
Speaking of coffee, Tiger Woods has probably been downing a lot of it this week, because his travel "across the pond" didn't go as planned. The 48-year-old originally planned on sleeping on his flight to Scotland to better adjust to the time change in Scotland, but his flight took off shortly after the
attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
Like the rest of the country, Woods was glued to his television watching updates on the horrible, violent attack. That led to him not getting much sleep, thus not being rested for his first practice session as he explained to
BBC Sport:
"I didn't accomplish a lot because I wasn't in the right frame of mind. It was a long night and that's all we watched the entire time on the way over here. I didn't sleep at all on the flight, and then we just got on the golf course."

Though Woods has been a little quieter about his friendship with Trump over the last couple of years, the pro golfer and former President consider each other friends and have played golf together a number of times. Donald Trump even awarded Woods with a Presidential Medal of Freedom back in 2019.

There's a good chance Tiger has reached out to try and check on the former president.
Woods is a longshot to win The Open, with sports books putting him at 200-1 to win the fourth major of the year. He hasn't been able to compete comfortably since his car crash back in 2o21, but he has slowly-but-surely showed promising signs that vintage Tiger Woods is still in there. You can't ever count out the "Big Cat," especially if he's saying things like this in his Open Championship press conference:
"I believe I can still win."
