“F***ing Pathetic, Bro”– Davante Adams Was Fuming At Jimmy Garoppolo In Josh McDaniels’ Last Game

Davantae Adams

It's never a good vibe to cheer on somebody's downfall, unless that somebody is Josh McDaniels. The guy has ridden the coattails of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick his whole career, and failed in spectacular fashion at two NFL head coaching stops because he's a total d**che canoe. Davante Adams spoke publicly about how the Las Vegas Raiders smoked victory cigars after a win in large part because McDaniels was finally out of the building. I don't feel bad for punching up at Josh McD. He has made many millions of dollars, won many Super Bowls thanks to the Brady-Belichick combo, and will make many millions more for all the future seasons the Raiders are paying him not to coach their team. One common thread between Belichick assistants who go elsewhere is that they can't help but insulate themselves with fellow New England Patriots spin-offs. McDaniels brought in ex-Pats exec Dave Ziegler to be his GM. Worse, McDaniels couldn't resist bringing aboard former would-be TB12 successor Jimmy Garoppolo, who had great success starting for the 49ers but was quite obviously carried by Kyle Shanahan's scheme and a loaded supporting cast. There's maybe not a better case study of hubris and ego in the history of football than Josh McDaniels based on what he's done outside of Foxborough. And guess what happens when you let those traits drive all your decision-making? You piss off your superstar wide receiver so much that he doesn't give a f**k how hot his mic is — he will still eviscerate your precious, hand-picked quarterback for blowing it. Just look at this raw footage from Netflix's Receiver documentary series: https://twitter.com/NFLHateMemes/status/1811794873478984168 "I gotta get the f**k outta here before I lose my f*****g life." Hahahahaha. https://twitter.com/NFLHateMemes/status/1811815197234872458 OOF... This was the day before Halloween last year. Davante was already this over being in Vegas. That won't do anything to quiet the buzz about a reunion with Aaron Rodgers, catalyzed by Rodgers himself. What Davante gave us here is the current-day equivalent of NFL Films gold. Even wide receivers as elite as Davante will make it known if they're unhappy. We're talking about one of the classiest, most professional playmakers in the sport. And he's this angry. One of many reasons I thought Receiver would eclipse Quarterback in Netflix's behind-the-scenes glimpse at various NFL lives. Quarterbacks can't really pop off like this, especially if there are cameras and mics following their every move. Imagine what it must've been like for Davante at practice all the time, watching Jimmy G chuck it into triple coverage every eighth pass play or so, or simply not delivering accurate balls when he creates yards of separation. The funniest part is, Jimmy actually missed Davante twice in this particular game against the Lions. https://twitter.com/SharpFootball/status/1719190817636491536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1719190817636491536%7Ctwgr%5E90f642e71d458007cede086adcd4a17dba9da70f%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.whiskeyriff.com%2F2023%2F10%2F30%2Fjosh-mcdaniels-passed-on-will-levis-so-that-jimmy-g-could-airmail-davante-adams-twice-on-monday-night-football%2F https://twitter.com/MattFitz_gerald/status/1719190539268964839 The 26-14 loss dropped the Raiders to 3-5, leading to McDaniels' firing two days later. Better times should be ahead now that McDaniels and Garoppolo are out. Raiders players successfully lobbied owner Mark Davis to retain interim coach Antonio Pierce as McDaniels' full-time successor. That quarterback position, though? Aidan O'Connell or Gardner Minshew ain't gonna get it done. Although Davante is stuck in Sin City for the 2024 campaign due to his contract structure, he has zero guaranteed dollars in the final two years of his deal after that. Reuniting with Rodgers on the Jets seems inevitable.
