![Deion Sanders college football]()
Could the Deion Sanders hype be helping the Colorado Buffaloes?
Yes. The answer is yes.
To give you some much needed context, the month of July actually has
two national holidays this year. We'll all obviously be celebrating the 4th of July later this week, but a select group of sports-crazed people are jumping at the bit for July 19th. That's when the resurrection of the EA Sports College Football video game franchise becomes official.
College football fans have been waiting for
years for the video game series to come back, and now, the wait is almost over. Soon, grown adults will be transported back to their younger glory days, wasting countless hours calling the shots of a virtual college football program.
And you've got to hand it to EA Sports. They've done a tremendous job stringing fans along, feeding them more and more information in smaller and smaller doses leading up to the game's release. Not too long ago, the list of EA Sports College Football's Top 25 ranked teams came out, and let's just say it started quite the conversation.
Particularly with where Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes fell in the ranking:

16th overall in the power rankings is rather strong for a team that finished with a record of... 4-8 last year, ranking dead last in the now defunct PAC 12 conference.
Social media wasn't really sure if EA Sports nailed that ranking, considering Sanders' team really struggled at the end of last year. But now that the real life Colorado Buffaloes are getting a fresh start in the BIG 12, maybe that means they are getting a fresh start as a team as well?
Obviously, you'd hope that those rankings above are based off of how those teams are expected to be in reality. So let's check in and see where the Colorado Buffaloes ranked in their new conference's pre-season poll:

Hmm... that's odd.
So EA Sports has the Buffaloes ranked 16th out of ALL college football teams in their new, highly anticipated video game. In real life? The BIG 12 projects Colorado to be the 11th best team... in their
conference. If you are following me here, the math "just isn't mathing."
Only one BIG 12 team (Utah) is ranked higher in the video game than Colorado, whereas the real life pre-season poll has
ten Big 12 teams ahead of Sanders' squad. It's safe to say that the Buffaloes are being favored in the video game realm, and unfortunately for them, they'll actually play all of their games on real -not virtual - football fields this upcoming season.
Regardless, I'm PUMPED for the game to come out:
