Year after year, many people are named
People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive, and most recipients are shocked when they receive the award. With past recipients being Paul Rudd, Michael B. Jordan, Patrick Dempsey, and more, there is a common thread of the Sexiest Man Alive being in the acting field. Of course, Blake Shelton was a fluke... nobody still has any idea how that happened.
And while many of these actors have played steamy roles in their careers, one sector of actors does not have as much representation... comedians. Will Ferrell has had enough of it and is making it his mission to be named the next Sexiest Man Alive.
Last month, during an interview with Savannah Guthrie on the
TODAY Show, Ferrell noted that he is 100% serious when he says he wants to be named with the honor.
"I read on one of my press clippings that said, 'Will Ferrell jokes.' This is not a joke. This is serious business."
Guthrie then asks Ferrell if he believes there is a reason he has been overlooked and notes that he has no idea why People Magazine has not considered him a viable option.
"It's time. They never have comedians. Can you think of one?"
When it was noted that Paul Rudd is considered funny in some of his roles, Ferrell was not thrilled, stating they were not on the same level.
"I mean, Paul's funny, but he's not there. I mean...God- he's dreamy...So yeah, I want it. I've never wanted anything more badly than Sexiest Man Alive."
I must admit I am kind of here for this.
Adam Sandler made an excellent speech joking that he was honored to be named Sexiest Man Alive, so I think the era of a personality choice is well overdue. (This does not imply that Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler are not sexy, but let's not act like Patrick Dempsey is not a smokeshow here.)
I hope Ferrell's wish comes true and he snags the award. I mean, he is a Renaissance man, actor, comedian, DJ, TV producer, and more...what's not to love?
