Landon Donovan is just trying to get back to the glory days.
Can you blame him? We've all probably sat around and thought about times where life was easier, exercising didn't make you bed-ridden, and long, thick hair was taken for granted. 42-year-old former soccer star Landon Donovan is currently dealing with at least
one of those aforementioned things.
If you've been on social media as of late, you probably saw the online discourse surrounding Donovan's haircut. The soccer great, who has now transitioned to broadcasting,
got roasted online for a haircut that... let's just say wasn't all that flattering.
This video posted by Fox Sports from Euro 2024 was what got all of the meme-ing started:

As you might imagine, the internet was ruthless when it came to cracking jokes about Landon Donovan's hair. I imagine there was a lot of "throwing stones from a glass house" with how easy it is to hide behind a social media account, but regardless, there was some truly brutal discourse about the U.S. soccer legend's hair.
You'd hope that your friends would at least be there for you during a time like this, right? Well, one of Landon's former LA Galaxy teammates, Mike Magee, instead decided to direct Donovan right into the crossfire that was happening online. Magee even took part in the memes, and posted this text conversation that he and Donovan shared.
It was within those texts that Landon explained he had a hair transplant procedure a couple of weeks ago, which is why his hairdo looked the way that it did:

Maybe wait until AFTER you have to be on TV for the entire world to see? Just an idea...
Landon must have given McGee his blessing to post the screenshot of their texts, and to be honest, I'm not sure
why he did. That was a pretty noble thing for the former star to do, and I'm guessing he just wanted to get it out there that he had recently underwent a hair transplant procedure.
As to why he did that, Landon replied to that above tweet himself with this message longing for the glory days:
"Thanks for putting me on blast, Mo. Just trying to get back to my glory days."
After all of this trouble and butt-of-the-joking Donovan had to go through, here's to hoping that his hair does get back to the glory days sooner rather than later.
