Kevin Costner Horizon

Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga will hit theaters next week. The major motion picture is one of four parts of the story detailing the American West, directed and starring Kevin Costner. The film's first part is already shaping up to be a major box-office success. The film's premiere brought the audience to their feet at the conclusion, giving Costner an 11-minute standing ovation, in which Costner appeared to tear up, although he claims no such thing. Given that Costner has put $38 million of his own dollars into the project, one could only hope it's incredible with that much monetarily weighing on it. With part two already set to go for an August release, Costner is now in the process of shooting parts 3 and 4. Costner is doing press surrounding the project ahead of part 1 hitting theaters, and a common question is, "Why so many parts?" During a recent sit down with CBS Sunday Morning's Tracy Smith, he gave a concise and honest answer. "I wasn't done. You know, listen, how one became four? I kind of go, 'Really, Kevin?' But it's so good right now; I really love it." While Costner is still raising money for parts three and four of the film series, he hopes that parts one and two will help monetarily compensate for that. Some might see it as not wise to invest that much personal funding into a business venture, but Costner believes wholeheartedly that it will succeed. "In the world of movies, I don't think I should have to (invest so much). But the is if nobody wants to go fishing with me, I'm going to go anyway. If I hear the word 'billionaire' one more time, I think I just will roll over because I believe it in this enough to just go shhh (pretends to push a pile of cash). So you know, all of these guys, all of these scaredy cats...it's probably why they have so much because they are smart and hold onto it, and I'm not that. I just really believe in the idea of what this can be, so I just keep pushing it." But Costner also promised to finish the series (which some might find ironic, given that he did not finish the hit TV series Yellowstone).  "I have to hold onto the rope because I have this pack with the audience that I'm going to give them something. I want them to go West."  Part 1 hits theaters on June 28th, and I am very excited to see if this film lives up to the buzz surrounding it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYsReoZMj1k Here's the full conversation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVV9slWj6cA
