![Costco CEO]()
THIS is the Friday news the people care about.
It's no secret that our nation has faced quite a bit of inflation, and the surge is prices goes well beyond the gas pump. With prices of every good and service rising, there is one thing consumers have been heavily concerned about...the cost of the Costco hot dog.
Many know the story of Costco co-founder Jim Sinegal, who once told the former CEO, Craig Jelinek, that if he raised the hot dog price to anything but $1.50, he would simply
"kill him."
“I came to Jim once and I said, ‘Jim, we can’t sell this hot dog for a buck fifty. We are losing our rear ends.’ And he said, ‘If you raise the effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out.’
That’s all I really needed. By the way, if you raised to $1.75, it would not be that big of a deal. People would still buy. But it’s the mindset that when you think of Costco, you think of the $1.50 hot dog.”

I don't think HR would be too thrilled to hear that the co-founder is threatening a hit over a hot dog... but this is 'MERICA. While Sinegal noted he has been worried about the beloved hot dog pricing for quite some time now, that concern rises even more as inflation increases.
But thankfully yesterday, Costco's new CFO, Gary Millerchip,
confirmed with CNN that the dogs would remain dirt-cheap.

Whew, thank goodness the price is marked as "safe."
Costco still remains the land filled with vats of butter, $500,000 engagement rings, and dirt-cheap hot dogs. What a magical place.
