HA. This is incredible.
Beer league sports are definitely one of adult life’s greatest things. As someone who frequently plays on a kickball team, it’s the perfect low-cost weekday activity that keeps you active and lets you live out your dreams of playing on a “serious” sports team.
While a beer league is always a fun way to spend your free time, the registration fees can sometimes be hefty. These registration fees might lead some participants to not play in the leagues, thus missing out on a season of fun and tispy games. However, one Florida hockey league found a solution to cover these fees while supporting its community.
A Tampa league went into the community to find a business to sponsor their team. Some teams might get a team member’s business, a local insurance agency, or a family-owned restaurant to sponsor their team. Bar of course are a popular option as well. However, this group of men found a different kind of business to sponsor their team: a local gentleman’s club.
Yes, folks, you read that right… they sponsored a league of grown men playing hockey. But that’s not even the best part. It’s fairly common for these kind of establishments to sponsor beer league teams (have to imagine the boys head over after the games). But the best part is that the men all have the names of dancers at the club on the back of their jerseys in lieu of their last names. Or at least, the most stereotypical names that one might have in that line of work. That deserves a HELL YEAH.
The video instantly took off, and deservedly so, gaining over 1 million likes and over 4.5 million views in 48 hours. The fact that this team is based in Florida makes it even better. Just SO Florida…

The comments on this video were pure gold, with social media users loving their team sponsor and the names they chose to feature on their jerseys.
“Do you think they were arguing about who got what name?”
“As a stripper and hockey fan I’m over here giggling and kicking my feet, what a crossover, I’m showing this to my manager.”
“THIS is the hockey merch we want.”
“Where’s the hockey romance book dealing with this premise?”
“We’re gonna close the club early tonight to go watch our boys play.”
“You know what..? Hell yeah.”
“Oh my god, I need this for my beer league team.”
“It’s like they are sponsoring a dancer.”
This video was just the start of the viral strip club-sponsored team. After many requested comments, the team made its own TikTok account, revealing its name, the Tampa Reign (actually located in Clearwater). The team’s slogan is appropriately “hard hits, harder nips.” They also shared that they have permission to use the club’s name and logo to create merchandise, and the profits from the merchandise will go to help pay for their tournament fees and travel expenses.
These guys are like the Savannah’s Bananas for hockey, and I’m here for it. This team could not have gone viral at a better time. Since my team is out of the Stanley Cup playoffs, I’m switching to watching beer league hockey and cheering on the Tampa Reign.
According to their TikTok tagline:
The Real Show Starts After the Third Period — “Reign”
Gold…
