Theo Von Makes Surprise Appearance With Donald Trump To Meet With Troops In Qatar: “This Is Definitely Court Ordered”

Doin’ a little community service.

President Donald Trump is currently in the Middle East, visiting Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE on the first overseas trip of his second term in the White House.

This morning, the president spoke to troops at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar – and he brought along a surprise guest for some entertainment.

Comedian and podcaster Theo Von was on hand to greet troops and lift their spirits, joking with them that the appearance was “court ordered.”

“I feel like I’m guilty of something. Oh yeah, it’s alarming.

What’s going on? Not much. I didn’t know I was going to be here either, I promise you. This is definitely court ordered. Oh yeah, I’m just getting out of some time.”

And he joked that he was initially confused by the invitation:

“They said, ‘Dude, do you want to go to the Middle East?’ I’m like, ‘The middle east of what? Do you mean like Kentucky, or what do you guys want?’

They’re like, ‘No dude, the Middle East where the peace is.’ I’m like, ‘Oh sh–.’ Yeah if you’re hiring me to go over there and help with peace then things are NOT good.”

That’s pretty good.

He also expressed his appreciation for the troops who protect our freedom, joking that it’s because of them that he’s able to get up there and do his job “not well.”

“It was a lot, but we did our best.

Even as hectic as today was, even with me telling jokes, it wasn’t my best day, I’ll give you that. But my job is I get to say what I want, right? I get to speak freely, whether you agree or not. But I don’t have that right if people don’t stand up for it, so I want to say that I wouldn’t even be able to come here and do my job not well today if you guys weren’t here sacrificing your time and commitment, so I just want to thank you guys for giving me the freedom of speech.

And we’ll use the freedom a little bit better next time.”

Of course Theo interviewed President Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election as part of his campaign’s focus on popular podcasts, and during his speech to the troops the president credited his son Barron with introducing him to the comedian:

“I also want to influence you to clap for a man who’s a great influencer. In fact my son Barron said, ‘Dad, you gotta do an interview with’ somebody I hadn’t heard of. But my son knew very well, he knows everyone. He said, ‘Dad,’ this is before the election, you know we won in a landslide, in case you hadn’t known.

But he said, ‘Dad, you gotta do an interview with a guy named Theo Von.’ I said, ‘Who the hell is Theo Von?’ He said, ‘Dad he’s such a big guy, you gotta do an interview.’ So he knew all the names, I didn’t know the names…

Theo, thank you very much… We had a good time, right? We had like 270 million people that listened so you know what? I think Barron was right. Thank you for being here, Theo. We appreciate it.”

During his address to the troops, Theo also mentioned a video that’s currently going viral showing him grabbing the throat of a man at the Twelve Thirty Club, a bar and restaurant here in Nashville.

The video, which was originally posted by TMZ, appears to show a man continuing to bother Theo and his group, prompting the comedian to respond and push the man away.

Reaction to the incident has been overwhelmingly in Theo’s favor, and witnesses reportedly said the man had been harassing Theo hoping for a reaction. Police were called for a misdemeanor assault complaint, but determined that no action would be taken against the comedian, which just goes to show you that this jerk probably brought it on himself.

I mean how could you hate Theo? From everything I’ve heard about him, both online and from people who know and have met him around Nashville, he seems like one of the nicest, most laid-back dudes you’ll ever meet.

And after taking time to join Trump to entertain troops in the Middle East, I have even more respect for the guy.

Long live the Rat King.
