Haley Joel Osment Garners Viral Reaction To Being Arrested For Partying Too Hard At A Ski Resort: “Thought This Was America?”

Is it illegal to catch a vibe at the ski resort these days?

The Sixth Sense actor Haley Joel Osment is facing some legal trouble after being arrested at a ski lodge in Mammoth Lakes, California. On April 8th, Osment was arrested for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance, after he was seen arguing with resort employees who were blocking him from boarding the ski lift with his helmet on backwards.

Osment was also attempting to get on the lift without skis or a snowboard. I mean, tough to ski without skis, but… to each their own, right?

When police arrived on the scene, after searching him, they found a $20 bill on him, which they sent off for further testing as there was a substance inside. After the search, they put him in a police car and took him to be processed.

A police source told PEOPLE that the substance in the bill:

“Is presumed to be cocaine. We sent it for testing. We will have the results soon.”

Really hitting the slopes eh? Wanted to “play in the snow,” eh? Nothing like perfect lines of fresh powder, am I right? Ok, I’ll stop…

Yesterday, the Mono County District Attorney’s office said that he was officially charged with possession of cocaine and disorderly conduct, with his arraignment scheduled for June 7th. After being charged for these crimes, Osment also issued a public apology after his arrest footage had come out. During his arrest, he used antisemitic slurs toward the officers, while at the same time calling the Nazis.

“I’m being kidnapped by a f**king Nazi… You’re f***ing with my life. You’ll wish you treated me nicer. I was decent to you and you, and you are a f***ing k*ke.”

You generally don’t hear the Nazi word and the K-word in the same sentence… historically those were reserved for people on opposites side of the hate. But I guess, every slur goes when you’re blacked out.

Osment issued a statement apologizing for his actions, noting that he would have apologized sooner if he had been aware of his language.

“I’m absolutely horrified by my behavior. Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner. The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place.

But that’s no excuse for using this disgusting word. From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage – I’ve let the Jewish community down, and it devastates me. I don’t ask for anyone’s forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake.”

However, before social media users learned about his use of inappropriate language during his arrest, a headline about his arrest was going viral online, which simply outlined the actions for which he was arrested.

“Haley Joel Osment was arrested at a California ski resort and charged with public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance. Prior to his arrest, he attempted to board a ski lift with his helmet on backward — and without skis or a snowboard.”

The image quickly took off on social media, with many users joking that partying should not be illegal.

While his post-arrest actions and treatment of law enforcement officers is certainly not cool, the comments Twitter users left about him getting on the ski lift with his helmet on backwards and not having a way to get down the mountain are hilarious.

Check a few out.

Had this byline included his language after being approached by the police, I don’t think the mugshot would have gone viral. However, given the lack of information, it was still a hilarious mugshot to make viral.
