Can never accuse Chuck of not speaking his mind.
I’m not really a fan of the NBA, but I AM a fan of Charles Barkley and his work on Inside the NBA, mainly because you never really know what you’re going to get or what’s going to come out of his mouth.
One of his long-running “jokes” (I’m not sure he’s joking) takes aim at San Antonio – and in particular, the ladies of San Antonio.
It all started way back in 2010, when Chuck joked (at least he says it was a joke) that the Texas city grows their women…well, a little bigger:
“One thing about San Antonio, them women down there…my ass would look normal down there. They ain’t got no skinny women down there.”
And it’s been a common theme for Chuck since then anytime San Antonio comes up, joking about the “big ol’ women down there,” calling the city a “goldmine for Weight Watchers,” and one of my personal favorites, calling them out for their love of churros:
“They’ve sold a lot of churros. All them big ol’ women down there killing them churros. They probably set a record with the churros…
Victoria’s definitely a secret down there… They can’t get in them cute little underwear down there, it’s a secret. They got them big ass bloomers down there. They set a record for churros.”

Well luckily for Chuck, the Final Four happened to be in San Antonio this year, so of course he was in town for some March Madness. And even when talking to a crowd in San Antonio, he couldn’t help but poke a little fun at the host city:
“Listen, San Antonio is a great city. I want to say this, y’all are a great city. I love Gregg Popovich and the Spurs…
San Antonio, y’all put on a major, major great show. And yes, y’all got some big bitches here.”

It doesn’t seem like the crowd was too offended by the comments, which is nice to see in a time where people are offended by…well, everything. In fact, Chuck almost had to retire the San Antonio jokes a few years ago, blasting cancel culture and his bosses at TNT for censoring him:
“All we ever talk about behind the scenes now is, ‘Yo man, be careful going in this direction.’ We can’t even have fun anymore. We’ve had fun all these years, and now all of a sudden in the last year and a half, everybody’s trying to get everybody fired and it really sucks.
They won’t even let me talk about San Antonio anymore. You know, when I’m always talking about them big ol’ women down in San Antonio?
I didn’t call anybody personally fat in San Antonio, I was just joking around.”
Luckily it seems like Chuck is once again back to poking fun at the lovely ladies of San Antonio – even right to their face while in San Antonio.
Gotta love Chuck, always speaking his mind. But let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a churro?
