John Daly Posted Up At The Augusta, Georgia, Hooters Marks The Official Start Of The Masters

A tradition unlike any other.

Folks, it’s officially Masters Week. For golf fans, that’s the most beautiful sentence that could ever be uttered (or typed out). Spring is in the air, and the azaleas are in full bloom at Augusta National Golf Club. With only a couple of days before the first major of the year officially tees off, there’s one unofficial thing that happens that let’s everyone know The Masters is officially here.

John Daly setting up shop at the Hooters in Augusta, Georgia.

The pro golfer is a legendary sports figure, and whether you like it or not, Daly is a glistening representation of the peak male form. He presented himself to the world as a professional athlete in the late 1980s by speaking his mind and wearing bright colored and patterned outfits.

Now, Daly has only grown his reputation ever further by drinking beer, smoking cigs, and parking his RV outside of the Hooter’s restaurant closest to Augusta National Golf Club to sign autographs and sell merchandise. I’d imagine he’s going through it right now with the latest news about Hooters.

Though the franchise as a whole might be struggling, this particular Hooters in Georgia seems to be business as usual. There’s a good chance that Daly’s annual presence at the restaurant has helped keep it afloat as other locations of the restaurant that specializes in… wings have shuttered.

Here’s a video from a couple of years back showing Daly’s set up at the Hooters closest to the home of The Masters:

Just a legendary man. There’s no other way to put it.

And the good news is that John Daly has been spotted at that very Hooters in Augusta in 2025. A writer for Bunkered Golf shared a couple of photos online that showed Daly utilizing the porch area of the restaurant. The pro golfer rocks a big white beard nowadays, so this scoop from Ben Parsons is undoubtedly a confirmation that John Daly is ready to fulfill his Masters weeks duties:

“Only right that my first Augusta experience was to find John Daly setting up shop just outside the gates. It’s officially Masters week, folks.”

Great to see the legendary golfer and Diet Coke (and cigarette) enthusiast supporting a local, Augusta, Georgia business.

It really seems like Daly is living the dream, does it not? Once he wraps up his weeks at Hooters, he’s got plenty to look forward to for the rest of 2025. One of those things is that fact he’ll be starring in Happy Gilmore 2, which comes out this summer.

He’ll apparently play somewhat of a bigger role in the film. At least bigger than Daly initially expected. When he was asked about his character (Daly will be playing an exaggerated version of himself, which is saying something), the long-ball hitter stated that fans should expect to be wildly entertained by the sequel, and revealed what he could:

“Bud Martin from Wasserman (Media) approached me about doing ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’ I said, ‘For Adam? Yeah I’ll do it. I’ll do a couple of things for him.’ But I’m doing a lot more. I guess I’m going to be living in a garage. That’s about all I can say. It’s going to be funny. I’m telling you right not. Get ready to cry laugh.”

If you can’t make it down to Hooters in Augusta, Georgia this week, you can instead see John Daly in the trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 below:
