Bill Maher, Kid Rock and President Trump recently broke bread at the White House.
If you aren’t into politics (and I don’t blame you if you aren’t), that trio getting together is a pretty big deal. On one side, Kid Rock has become somewhat of a conservative icon for those that lean to the right politically (remember all of those Bud Light cans that he shot up?). On the other, Bill Maher has long provided comedic, progressive political commentary, and has voiced his disapproval of and disdain with the POTUS.
Then of course… Donald Trump is the President of the United States.
So how did that dinner come to be? Well, Kid Rock decided to act as a peacemaker, and apparently organized the entire thing. The “Born Free” singer recognized that the division that’s currently occurring in the United States, and thought that now – more than ever – would be the right time to bring some high-profile individuals together.
Through doing so, Kid Rock hoped that he could help reunite the country, as he explained in his interview on The Glenn Beck Podcast:
“I’m actually gonna try to unite this country, and at the end of the month, I’m taking Bill Maher to the White House for dinner. This guy has done nothing but talk smack about the President since day one. But he’s a comedian too. I can have conversations with him… we can find common ground.
He’s actually more reasonable than a lot of people on the right would think. Especially the last four years or whatever. So I said to him, ‘If I can hook you guys up,’ this that and the other. Trust me, there’s a lot of people more deserving to be at that table. It’s a big deal for me to bring him there. What would it say to this country?”
A civil dinner between people that have historically disliked one another would probably say a lot.
Though when Kid Rock sat down for that interview, the dinner between President Trump and Bill Maher wasn’t set in stone. However, Kid Rock eventually managed to officially schedule the meet up, and Donald Trump viewed it as “doing a favor” for his good friend. That’s the only reason he ended up doing it, according to Trump’s Truth Social post about it:
“I got a call from a very good guy, and friend of mine, Kid Rock, asking me whether or not it would be possible for me to meet, in the White House, with Bill Maher, a man who has been unjustifiably critical of anything, or anyone, TRUMP.”

Kid Rock later broke the news about how that unity dinner went down.
The country rock artist joined Fox News’ Fox & Friends last week, and he happily detailed how things went during the meal with President Trump and Bill Maher. From how Kid Rock explains things, it sounds like the dinner couldn’t have gone any better… and that a lot of minds were blown:
“It could not have been better… we talked about things we had in common. Ending wokeness, securing the border. The president was asking him what he thought about policy, going on with Iran and Israel and things. It blew my mind. I was very proud.
Everyone was a little suspect about going into this. Even the President said, ‘What do you got me doing?’ Man, we’re just trying to show people that even though we’ve been pretty hard on each other, when you get face to face, maybe we could have a little more civility in this country and try to bring people together. That was my whole intention.”
Kid Rock shared details about his dinner with President Trump, Bill Maher, and Dana White at the White House last night. “It could not have been better. Everyone was so surprised, so pleasant.”

And now, we’re hearing how the White House dinner went from Bill Maher.
The long-time host of Real Time with Bill Maher has expanded his media footprint with a podcast Club Random. It was on that show that he sat down with guest Chris Cuomo, who is currently an anchor for NewsNation and the host of CUOMO, which airs on the upstart cable news network. Though the pair covered plenty of political topics, the most interesting portion of the podcast came when Maher gave insight into how his recent trip to the White House went.
Much of the conversation revolved around Trump being immune to the media criticism, with the former CNN host even calling him “Teflon Don.” Maher actually backed that up, stating at one point:
“Trump is one of the most effective politicians. Whatever you think of the policy and him as a person… just as a politician. Just understanding (to) always lean in to being more who you are. The people are not savvy about issues, but they smell a phony a mile away.”
The host of the Club Random podcast later admitted to being one of Trump’s biggest critic, and despite that, he said that when Trump was elected a second time, Maher openly said that he wasn’t going to “pre-hate” anything. In fact, Bill shared that there are plenty of things – and strategies – that Donald Trump employs that he’s a fan of:
“When he did that thing where the guy came in from the Taliban and he said, ‘This is an aerial picture of your house. If during our withdrawal one American is hurt, just know I know where you live.’ I was like, ‘Oh can we just play the music now?’ Because I don’t care it’s Donald Trump and he’s the worst person ever, blah, blah, blah. I f**king love that!”
And all signs are pointing towards Maher having a newfound respect for the President, which is saying a lot considering how much the comedian has ripped into Donald Trump in the past. It certainly seems like the Kid-Rock-arranged dinner had a big impact on Bill Maher, because why else would he say things like this:
“His message his ‘I’m me. I’m strong. I’m daddy’ … He has that thing. And no one else has it.”
Bill Maher implying that Donald Trump is “Daddy?” I certainly didn’t have that one my 2025 Bingo card.
