MLB Network Features Koe Wetzel’s “Twister” In Opening Day Hype Video

Baseball is BACK.

Major League Baseball’s opening day is today, March 27th, and baseball fans have never been more ready to slam beers, eat hot dogs, and enter another season hoping their team wins the World Series. Unless you’re a Chicago White Sox fan, who have been mathematically eliminated… today.

While most baseball fans will have their season ending in disappointment, the first few weeks of play are pure bliss and the sign that spring and summer are HERE.

Fans are now within the 24-hour countdown to their favorite team taking to the diamond, and with that, the promo videos are rolling in to hype up MLB fans. Don’t get me wrong, beer and hot dogs are the first two things that pair perfectly with baseball, but highlighting that on a promo video doesn’t really get the fans going. BUT fastballs on the outside corner, sliding into home, and a home run bat flip all to the background of good music gets the job done.

The MLB Network is making moves with their musical choice for a recently shared hype video, and of all the genres, artists, or songs they could’ve chosen, Koe Wetzel’s “Twister” was the lucky winner, and it goes HARD.

Last year, Wetzel released 9 Lives, and the record “Twister” is featured on. Although the track was not released as a single, nor did it have commercial success like “High Road,” I thought it was the perfect Wetzel track to use for this promotional video.

The upbeat tempo combined with the wild lyrics about fighting a long road to get back home to the belly of the beast is the mentality that all MLB teams have at the season opener, hoping to make it to their beast—the World Series.

“I got a long way to go
It’s a long, winding road
It ain’t the best place to be, but welcome home
To the belly of the beast…”

If this doesn’t get you hyped up for game day, I don’t know what will. And I know Koe Wetzel, a home-grown Texan, will be cheering for the Texas Rangers tomorrow.

Speaking of the Rangers, another Texan, Randall King, will kick things off singing the “Star Spangled Banner” before the first inning at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

God bless country music and baseball.

Fire up “Twister” before you go.
