Who is cutting onions?
Seeing elderly couples still showing acts of love and kindness for each other warms everyone’s heart. When you look at a couple like this, you know they have likely been together for over half a century, raised a family with beautiful children, faced hardships, celebrated career milestones, and planted roots together.
There’s a reason that people in today’s generation say they will never find love like their grandparents. It’s not that the fulfilling love they share does not exist, but it often takes longer to find it.
For those who are lucky to find a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love at an early age, these are tender moments to look forward to, helping one another in simple ways.
An elderly couple is going viral on TikTok for doing just that. A woman is helping her husband, who appeared to be injured due to his foot being in a boot and the use of a walker, by holding an umbrella over him as they walk through the pouring rain into a building. A woman captured the moment from her car and shared the act of kindness with the world, and it has gained over 2 million views in 48 hours.
What makes this moment so sweet is that the woman holding the umbrella is clearly suffering from kyphosis or osteoporosis, as her back has a significant hunch near the top. Even with her petite body being hunched over, she still does her best to cover her husband with the umbrella to keep him dry as they both move slowly to cover.
While the video is getting a lot of positive traction on social media, a few viewers shared some confusion as to why this woman sat in her car to video it instead of offering help. The user shared in the comments that she felt like they were capable and didn’t want to approach them like they needed help.
“Guys, not all elderly people want your help! They don’t want us to take their independence away. They probably go out daily, I just happened to catch the moment.”
And some people are hilariously saying they were probably b*tching at each other this entire video. But what’s true love without a bit of nagging?
“Just know they cuss each other out on a daily basis.”
“Damnit, Edith, I said hold that umbrella like this!”
“You guys are thinking this is cute, but I can hear him getting mad at her for not holding the umbrella correctly.”
“Well damn Jack, I can’t control the weather.”
“‘Damn it Judith you keep nailin’ me in the head with that damn thing.’ You can tell they love each other so much.”
This is the definition of a love that has lasted the test of time.
