Tennessee Mayor (And Former WWE Star) Glenn Jacobs Challenges Tim Walz To A Charity Wrestling Match

Let’s see if Tim Walz is as tough in the ring as he is behind the microphone.

Minnesota governor and failed vice presidential candidate Tim Walz seems to be trying to keep his name out there for a potential presidential run in 2028, making the media rounds after serving as the running mate on the disastrous Kamala Harris campaign in 2024.

Walz was selected at least in part to help Harris appeal to men, a voting bloc that the then-vice president was struggling to win over. He was a former assistant high school football coach, something that he frequently brought up on the campaign trail, and was apparently supposed to represent the kind of strong masculine figure that would help the Harris campaign break through with male voters.

For some reason though, it didn’t work.

Walz was criticized for his support of a bill in his home state of Minnesota that mandated tampons be placed in men’s school restrooms, earning him the nickname “Tampon Tim,” and he never really helped Democrats project that “masculine” image that they needed to overcome their problems with men.

As a result, the Trump campaign won in the male demographic by 12 points, and even won the young male vote, which has typically skewed more liberal. He won males age 45-64 by a whopping 20%, and among males 65 and older, a demographic that Democrats hoped to win by warning senior citizens that Trump was a threat to social security, he still had a 13-point advantage in the final election results.

Just a total bloodbath in the male vote.

But Walz seems to be trying to rehab his image, making the media rounds and discussing what Democrats need to do to win over the male vote.

And apparently his strategy is to prove just how tough he really is.

During a recent interview with California governor Gavin Newsom, Walz made the bold claim that he thought he could take most Republicans in a fight:

“How do you fight it? I think I could kick most of their ass, I do think that… But I don’t know if we’re going to fall into that place where we challenge you to a WWE fight kind of thing.”

Newsom, to his credit, tried to point out that Democrats were losing ground with male voters – and Tim Walz, proving he learned nothing from 2024, immediately blamed racism and misogyny:

“These are bad guys though. These are bad guys. How do we push some of those guys back under a rock? You don’t think it’s racism and misogyny?”

Well as tough as Walz thinks he is, now’s his chance to prove it.

If you’re not familiar with Knox County, Tennessee mayor Glenn Jacobs, you may know him as former WWE superstar Kane. Under his wrestling name, Jacobs won three wrestling championships and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. And he’s got a challenge for tough guy Tim Walz:

“All joking aside, let’s put our money where our mouth is…in a charity wrestling match. We’ll split the gate 50/50 between our chosen organizations. I’ll kick things off myself with a $10,000 donation. What do you say?”

Now, Jacobs is 7 feet tall and his wrestling weight was listed at around 323 pounds, though at this point he’s 57 years old and hasn’t been in the ring since 2021 when he made a surprise appearance during Royal Rumble. And according to the internet, Tim Walz is around 6 feet tall, maybe 6’2″ at best. So I’m not sure that this would be a fair fight, although Walz is the one who opened the door by bringing up a WWE fight…

Unsurprisingly, Walz has yet to respond to Kane’s invitation, but the mayor is serious about the offer, and has already got $50k committed to go to charity if the Minnesota governor agrees to the wrestling match:

I’m not holding my breath, but if Walz is serious about proving how “masculine” he is, now’s his chance to put up or shut up.
