Nicest thing he’s ever said about his predecessor.
Obviously President Donald Trump isn’t a big fan of the previous occupant of the White House, Joe Biden. Trump has spent much of his second term quickly trying to undo everything that was done by the Biden administration – even declaring that the pardons Biden signed late in his second term were “null and void” because they were signed by autopen. (We’ll have to see if that one holds up in court, but the way things are going it seems like judges are going to rule against Trump no matter what he does).
Trump coined the nickname “Sleepy Joe” back during the 2020 presidential election, and rolled it out once again in 2024 (especially after Biden’s disastrous performance during their only debate back in June). But as it turns out, “Sleepy Joe” might not have been as much of an insult as we thought…
The president recently paid a major (backhanded) compliment to President Biden during an interview with Fox News, revealing the one thing he actually admired about his predecessor:
“The only thing I totally admired about Sleepy Joe Biden is the following: He’d go to a beach, he’d lay down on a cot, barely able to get his feet through the sand, he’d lay down and within minutes he’s sleeping and you have cameras watching him. I could never do that. I would never be able to sleep like that.
That’s about the only thing I think that was wonderful. He was a disaster. This man was a disaster.”

Now obviously the answer was a tongue-in-cheek response to a question about Trump sleeping at night with everything going on in the world, but he’s also not wrong about Biden’s seriously impressive ability to fall asleep just about anywhere.

What a life, being able to just grab a quick nap wherever you want while you’re the leader of the free world.
Of course Trump never seems to pass up the opportunity to get a jab in at his former opponent. In a recent report, it was even revealed that the then-GOP nominee was even making fun of Biden while he was in the hospital after getting shot back in July during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump was getting a CT scan to check him for a possible concussion. The test came back clear, something Trump was apparently proud of – and something he wanted to use to troll his then-opponent, President Joe Biden:
“Can you give me a copy of these? Because I want to make sure I can show reporters that my cognitive function is 100 percent. You can’t say the same about Joe Biden.”
Just classic Trump. Always locked in.
Apparently he was given a CD with his test results, which he promised to release “at a later time.” But of course it ended up not mattering because just a couple weeks later Biden would drop out of the race after pressure from his own party due to his diminished cognitive function.
After watching Biden address the nation about the shooting, Trump asked to see the pictures that had been taken – and he was just as impressed by the photo of him raising his fist as the rest of the world was:
“Wow, that’s iconic. That’s the most American picture I’ve ever seen.”
He also had plans for his bloodied clothes when they were finally returned to him:
“This is going into the museum.”
There’s no doubt that the moment played into Trump’s 2024 election victory, showing off his strength and determination in the face of threats and providing a stark contrast with his Democrat opponents. And as it turns out, even in the emergency room after being shot, Trump was still laser-focused on the election…and trolling Joe Biden.
