Indianapolis Bartender Grabs A Baseball Bat, Kicks Out Trump Supporters Because Of Their MAGA Hats

Yeah, doesn’t really look like somewhere I’d want to drink anyway…

Video posted online shows a wild confrontation between a bartender and a group of customers who were supporters of President Donald Trump – who were quickly told they weren’t welcome in the bar. (Honestly, probably should have known that just from looking around the place).

The incident apparently took place at Chatterbox jazz bar in Indianapolis over the weekend. And in the video, the patron is immediately greeted by an angry bartender, who tells her that she has to leave because she’s a Trump supporter. At one point the bartender even picks up a baseball bat and threatens to call police as the patron, who was apparently wearing a Make America Great Again hat, told them that it was “wild” that she was being kicked out over her MAGA hat.

The customer in the video was identified by WISH-TV in Indianapolis as Elise Hensley, who says that she had entered the bar and been told to leave, but decided to return and question why they were being kicked out, which resulted in the confrontation that was caught on video:

“I wore that hat because I do love our President of the United States. He is our president. I do appreciate that and I don’t think I find anything wrong with me wanting to wear a Trump hat because he is our president…

They probably have every right to kick me out. If you don’t want me at your bar, that is what it is. But also, the man that was with me was an African American male. He was wearing a Trump hat.”

But Chatterbox has a different version of events, claiming that the party was kicked out after “misgendering” a bartender:

“On Friday, March 14th, a group of individuals visited Chatterbox and intentionally misgendered and harassed a Chatterbox employee, resulting in them being asked to leave by our staff. They then continued verbally assaulting our patrons and staff, threatened our establishment, and returned to record a video which has not been posted on multiple social media platforms.

The Chatterbox is home to a diverse group of staff and patrons. We do not tolerate dehumanizing or disrespectful language or symbolism in our establishment. We have a right, by law, to refuse service to anyone who disrupts our business. We look forward to continue being a home for people who love music and appreciate our community. We would also like to state that there has been additional misinformation spread that Sean Baker is in the video. Sean Baker is a beloved musician in our community, not a bartender at Chatterbox.”

Hensley disputes the bar’s claim that she “misgendered” or “harassed” anyone at the bar, and says she was kicked out before she even had a chance to order a drink:

“We went up to the bar and before we could even get a word out or order a drink, he just looked at me and said, ‘No.’

I said, ‘Excuse me.’ He said, ‘Absolutely not,’ he said, ‘Your hat. You need to leave right now.’”

The video has since gone viral on social media, and even got the attention of Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith, who reposted the video on his personal X account.
