‘Earnhardt’ Documentary Series About The Life Of Dale Earnhardt Sr. To Air On Prime Video This Memorial Day Weekend

Coming SOON.

Today, Prime Video announced that their forthcoming four-part series called Earnhardt, which focuses on the life and legacy of the late, great Dale Earnhardt Sr., will be out this Memorial Day weekend on their streaming service. Featuring interviews from Dale’s friends, family, and obviously his son, Dale Jr., the documentary will also feature never-before-seen footage of Dale during his racing career from both his personal and professional life.

They announced that the series was coming last year, but we hadn’t had an official release date until now, and I can’t wait to watch it. According to NASCAR reporter Jeff Gluck, the documentary will focus on the rags to riches story of one of NASCAR’s most legendary drivers, Dale Earnhardt Sr., with “unparalleled access” to archival footage and more:

“The history of the Earnhardt family is the history of NASCAR—you can’t tell the story of one without the other—and at the center of the Earnhardt family was Dale Earnhardt Sr., the most influential figure the sport has ever known.

A charismatic, working-class hero to millions of fans, Dale Sr. spent the better part of two decades as the most visible figure in stock car racing, breaking through the confines of them sport’s regional fan base to mainstream notoriety, racking up millions in endorsement deals from Coca-Cola to Wheaties, and appearing on daytime TV and late-night talk shows.

From one generation to the next, racing would bring the Earnhardt family together, but it wasn’t always an easy road. Now, with unparalleled access and never before seen archival material, the Untitled Earnhardt Documentary promises a profound, revealing, and definitive account of a historic American family.”

The documentary is being produced by Imagine Documentaries, NASCAR Studios, and Everyone Else, in association with Dirty Mo Media, which is Dale Jr’s media company.

The series will come out the same weekend as the Coca-Cola 600 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the race will be aired for the first time on Prime Video with Dale Earnhardt Jr. making his debut on that service during this race in the booth. I’m sure timed that way intentionally in terms of the Earnhardt documentary coming out on this particular weekend, and it’s exciting to this we’re not too far away from it, really.

They shared a sneak peak at the trailer on Instagram earlier, and it looks really, really great already from this short clip of what’s to come. There’s so much to Dale Sr. than just being the legendary NASCAR driver that he is, and I think this will give a really cool look into the man behind the wheel, unlike we’ve ever really seen before.

His legacy is enduring, for good reason, and he was a true one of a kind pioneer, so this is more than deserved and I think racing fans of all ages will appreciate it:

“Everything’s sacrificed to race. ‘Earnhardt,’ coming this Memorial Day Weekend to Prime Video.”

I mean, there’s just no one on earth cooler than Dale Earnhardt… and there never will be, in my humble opinion:
