Sassy little thing.
Some babies will come out of the womb with prominent personalities, whether it’s a newborn child who doesn’t want to stop crying, a foal who shows their spunk as soon as they get their legs underneath of them, or a calf that has the zoomies from the moment they hit the ground.
No matter the species, some babies need no time for their personality to develop.
My favorite animal videos are of newborn foals or calves showing their sassy sides early on in their lives on Earth, but when I came across this viral video, I was taken to a whole new level of sass that I’d never seen before.
As an animal science student, I saw many births among cows and equines in college, but I’ve never seen a calf this big or with it coming out of momma. An Arkansas farmer is going viral for sharing a video of a large Angus baby being birthed by his mother.
WARNING: THIS VIDEO SHOWS IT ALL.
The video shows the halfway hanging out of the mom, trying to push himself free from the womb so he can fully enter the world. Before folks start to ask the obvious question of why the man behind the camera didn’t jump in to help, sometimes it’s best for nature to take its course and for the mother to do their job. He was there to assist if something went wrong, but until then, the mother was doing her best and doing a good job.
Clearly, the farmer at Stafford Cattle Company has seen something like this before, as he captioned the video:
“Gotta love calving out heifers.”
The video, however, did not go viral because the farmer was “neglecting” the mother cow. It went viral because the vocal baby was halfway out of the womb.
Most of the time, when a calf hits the ground, the mother will clean it off before it knows its surroundings and stands up for the first time before going to nurse. This calf, though, looked like he’d been on the ground for a week, not only being big in size but also for being wildly vocal.
The calf is mooing loudly as he swings his head from side to side, trying to free himself from being inside his mother.

The comments left on this video were hilarious. Many noted that it reminded them of the Ace Ventura scene where Jim Carrey came out of the rhino.
Check them out.
“That scene in Ace Ventura when he comes out of the rhino…”
“I called for help twice!”
“If you don’t name that baby Jim Carrey…”
“That thing came out asking for the manager!”
“That calf said ‘I’ll deliver myself.'”
“Wow, that’s a spicy heifer!! I couldn’t imagine having a baby and it doing that to me.”
“That baby was over cooked she said I’m done; get me out.”
“The other cow is like, ‘Hunny, your hemorrhoids are BIG! AND TALKING! You might wanna see a Dr about that!'”
“Airways are clear.”
“The other cow was like, ‘Excuse me, there’s a voice coming out your backside.'”
“That calf is half grown.”
“Dang, that’s a big calf.”
“This is the nature version of Jim Carrey’s rhino scene.”
Later on, the owner provided an update, and yeah, mama and the calf are doing just great:
