Boxing Legend Floyd Mayweather Says Donald Trump Is “The Best President We’ve Ever Had”

Money Mayweather is a MAGA fan.

There’s no denying that Floyd Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers of all time. Between 1996 and 2017, Mayweather competed in 50 professional boxing matches – and won every single one of them. After winning the bronze medal at the 1996 Olympics, Mayweather had an incredible career and would later go on to retire with an undefeated record and 15 major world championships spanning five different weight classes. Of his wins, 27 came by knockout, and in 2021 he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Easily one of the GOATs.

But when it comes to politics, apparently Mayweather has his own GOAT: President Donald Trump.

The retired boxing legend has been an outspoken supporter of Trump dating all the way back to his first presidential run in 2016, when Mayweather defended the president over criticism over the now-infamous Access Hollywood tape, praising Trump for his authenticity:

“I feel people shy away from realness. This man didn’t do nothing. Listen, if y’all didn’t want the man in the White House, y’all should have voted the other way.”

And apparently his feelings haven’t changed much over the last decade, because yesterday Mayweather appeared on Fox Business and had high praise for our current president:

“I’m happy. But we’re never happy. We had Trump before. We didn’t appreciate him. But I think Trump is a great president, one of the – actually he’s the best president, in my eyes. He’s the best president we’ve ever had. Great businessman, and that’s what it’s about…

Trump has done an amazing job, and a lot of people around America are upset, but no matter who goes in the White House we’re always upset. And I think Trump is the man for the job. He’s the best president, in my eyes.”

Since leaving professional boxing, Mayweather has competed in several exhibitions, including one against YouTube personality Logan Paul back in 2021 that was criticized for being a cash grab after the two spent most of the fight playing defense instead of throwing punches and no winner being declared.

Mayweather said he got the “last laugh” after the fight, calling it “legalized bank robbery” and bragging that he’s the best at it because people tune in and pay money to watch.

(Sounds a lot like another recent fight that a Paul brother was involved in, doesn’t it?)

Most recently, Mayweather squared up against MMA fighter and boxer John Gotti III (the grandson of mafia boss John Gotti) for an exhibition that went the full 8 rounds with no winner declared.

He’s also dipped his toe into other ventures, starting his own NASCAR Cup Series team called, appropriately, The Money Team, that made a handful of starts in 2022 and 2023 before being sold and rebranded for the 2024 season. At one point, the team was reportedly in talks with Jeffrey Earnhardt, grandson of the legendary Dale Earnhardt, about a full-time NASCAR ride, but ultimately the plans never came to fruition and Mayweather’s team never ran a full season in the Cup Series.
