Kevin Love not spreading the love? That’s ironic.
Love, a five-time NBA All Star and NBA Champion, is currently playing out the twilight of his career with the Miami Heat. He’s a veteran that’s seen it all, and that’s the only reason why I would assume he’d take a shot at an up-and-coming star in the WNBA like Angel Reese. One comment from Love on an Instagram post about Reese has been the talk of the sports world in recent days.
Reese, who plays forward for the Chicago Sky, is about to embark on her second season as a professional. The 22-year-old was having a great year before she suffered a season-ending wrist injury, and though she wasn’t playing basketball in the later part of the 2024, Reese was still plenty busy. Much of that busyness came from the young star’s decision to start her own podcast, Unapologetically Angel.
Yes, it seems like every athlete has their own podcast nowadays…
The WNBA star was feeling inspired last week and shared a series of positive thoughts about her goals and aspirations via her Instagram stories. All of the messages came together to read a little something like this:
“Keep God first and take that scary step. It could change your life forever. My goal in life is to be a billionaire and I will (be) without a doubt. So yes, I will focus on it all equally while learning and growing, but also pulling others along.
I’m 22 so none of this looks perfect, but you gotta get up everyday and count every small win. Fall a thousand times but get right back up a million more. Along the way, never compare yourself to others. The sun and the moon come out and shine at different times. Everything is God’s timing.”
Hey, I think we all have the goal of being a billionaire, am I right?
Angel Reese’s session of speaking good things into existence didn’t stop there. The couple of lines that have really been highlighted on social media involved all of the titles and “wins” she is wishing upon herself:
“I’m going to be a basketball player, model, influencer, businesswoman, fashion girlie, podcaster, unapologetic, take care of my family/friends, set records, create history, be the first, set trends, win at everything in life, etc… I’m creating generational wealth.”

All good, positive things.
That is until Kevin Love got involved in the comments section. The Miami Heat forward inserted himself into the conversation and left this as a response underneath the post that highlighted all that Angel Reese had to say. It’s somewhat of a vague statement, but one could assume he was talking about either the billionaire goal or the aspiration of holding so many different titles:
“I’m gonna go ahead and take the under.”
He followed it up with:
“Just tell me my old a** ain’t sh*t. I won’t take it personally.”
If I’m being honest, I initially thought this was a “fooled by the internet” situation. Why would the NBA veteran want to get involved and stir up controversy? Love is either being 100% serious (and that’s hilarious), or he’s just joking about Reese’s comments. And considering Kevin Love has turned into quite the meme-ster as of late, him ribbing Reese is not out of the realm of possibility.
Love was dropping meme after meme during the Jimmy Butler trade saga, and he even shared this video below not too long ago:
Seems like a guy who just wants to have fun… but at this time, no one knows if the comment on Angel Reese’s post was a joke or an actual diss. Maybe we’ll find out soon?
Of course, Reese has been a bit of lightning rod for criticism (sometime bringing it upon herself) dating back to her time at LSU, so naturally, Love’s comment garnered a large mix of agreement, laughs, and disgust:
