The show must go on…
We’ve obviously all heard of a post game celebration for the winning team of the Super Bowl, but have you ever heard of a team still going through with their party when they lose the “Big Game?” That’s apparently what played out this past weekend when the Philadelphia Eagles took the Kansas City Chiefs to the woodshed, winning the NFL’s finale 40 to 22. Though Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs suffered an embarrassing loss, their post game party for fans apparently went along as scheduled.
Truth is, most losing teams hold some kind of Super Bowl postgame celebration for their fans, although you have to imagine the vibes are at an all-time low. You also have to assume that there are some logistical issues at play here, like a space already being reserved and an artist already being booked to perform. It seems pretty commonplace for both Super Bowl fanbases to have an event and an artist lined up right after the game… just in case. That artist for the Chiefs was none other than country (?) star Shaboozey. Nothing like washing away the sorrows of defeat by listening to Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” am I right?
That might sound like a punchline, but from what we can tell, that’s exactly what happened. Chiefs fans rolled into this Super Bowl afterparty and tried to put on their happiest face… despite just watching their favorite’s team chance at the three-peat dissipate before the first quarter of the game was even over. And much like the Kansas City Chiefs, it didn’t sound like Shaboozey had his best stuff that night.

As his hit song would lead you to believe, it seems like Shaboozey must have had a couple too many shots of whiskey before he got on stage.
In his defense, that’s gotta be one of the hardest rooms to win over as an artist. Oh, your favorite team just reached the pinnacle of the sport and then got absolutely molly whopped/boat raced/beat up on? How about I make you feel better by singing the most overplayed song of the year, the one song that you simply can’t get away from? Doesn’t excuse the poor performance, but still… maybe just cancel the whole thing and eat the cost.
It’s a tough situation, but social media wasn’t offering up any sympathy to Shaboozey or Chiefs fans:
Sounds like a morgue in there
