![Rickie Fowler Rocks Full Camouflage At WM Phoenix Open, & Golf Fans Are LOVING It: “Duck Dynasty His New Sponsor?”]()
![Rickie Fowler]()
Where's Rickie Fowler?
That's been the popular response to the
bold fashion statement today at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Fowler isn't one that's shied away from wearing unique outfits over his career, but this new all camouflage look is... certainly something.
When Rickie first burst onto the scene in the late 2000s and early 2010s, he was known for his signature style (he used to wear flat bill hats) just as much as he was known for his golfing ability. After playing at Oklahoma State for two years, he turned pro, and though he left his school behind, he always paid tribute to his former university's colors.
So on Sundays - the day reserved for the final round of golf tournaments - he wears his patented "Sunday Orange" outfit:

If you think that's an obnoxious golf shirt... just wait.
The Waste Management Phoenix Open, also known as “The People’s Open,” officially got started today. If you’ve never checked it out, it’s one of the rowdiest golf tournaments… scratch that, it is THE rowdy golf tournament on the PGA Tour’s schedule. It traditionally starts on the Thursday before the “Big Game” and concludes just before the Super Bowl kicks off on Sunday.
It's one of my favorite tournaments of the year, just because of the atmosphere and the tournament's iconic 16th hole - a Par 3 fully enclosed by stadium seating. It also helps that the Waste Management Phoenix Open usually brings out all of the PGA Tour's best for the first time of the season. That includes the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and the aforementioned Rickie Fowler.
For the level of stardom that Fowler has in the professional game, he doesn't exactly have the winning resume to back it up. Despite that, he's still considered a fan favorite... but I'd guess that his outfit selection for the first round will test the allegiance of even the biggest Rickie Fowler fans.
I promise this is a real photo... he went full camouflage:

Wow. That's what you call a statement.
As he's played today, the lively crowd at the Waste Management has let him know how they feel about the camo hat, pants and shirt. And if Rickie were to look online, he'd see much of the same. The internet is not holding back poking fun at Fowler's getup:
If you aren't plugged into the golf world, let me explain that last comment.
PGA Tour player Jason Day caught some flak last week at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am because he wore a sweatsuit during the final round of play. Day's sponsorship with Malbon has led to some very interesting outfits to say the least, but his sweatshirt-sweatpants combo caused somewhat of a controversy in the golf world.
Some claimed that he was "disrespecting the game" for wearing sweats while he played:

Love the golf drama.
And by the way, the camouflage shirt actually got put to work during Rickie's round. Somehow, even though the Waste Management Phoenix Open is played out in the middle of a desert, Fowler found himself blending into his surroundings:

PROPHECY FULFILLED.
