Travis Kelce Was NOT Amused When Asked Whether He Loved Taylor Swift Or Phantom 15-Yard Penalties More

Travis Kelce

Not going to escape the narrative any time soon. It's Super Bowl week, with the Kansas City Chiefs set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX down in New Orleans. And much of the conversation this week has been around the perception that the NFL and referees seem to have a bias towards the Chiefs. It's not a new conversation, and it's not particularly surprising given the Chiefs have won two straight Super Bowls and are gunning for their third Lombardi Trophy in a row. But along the way, there have been plenty of examples of questionable - and downright bad - calls that have gone in favor of the Chiefs. In just their last two playoff games en route to their Super Bowl appearance, there were several instances of the Chiefs getting some help from the refs, like this mysterious unnecessary roughness flag on the Houston Texans that even had announcer Troy Aikman calling out the officiating: “They’ve got to address it in the offseason. You can’t as a quarterback run around and play games with defenders and then be able to draw a penalty.” https://twitter.com/awfulannouncing/status/1880762104728445017 And in the AFC Championship Game, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen appeared to have a critical first down late in the game - but the refs ruled him short, allowing the Chiefs to get the ball back and go on to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl. https://twitter.com/69RussG0D/status/1883709992701931631 So it's really no wonder that questions surrounding the NFL's favoring of the Chiefs have plagued both the league and the team during Super Bowl week. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was asked about the allegations earlier this week and dismissed them as "ridiculous." https://twitter.com/NFLonCBS/status/1886528686280581495 And Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce even took an opportunity during Super Bowl media day to question why the media is even fueling the "conspiracy theories." https://twitter.com/NFLonFOX/status/1886618789896445996 But Kelce was also asked one question about the officiating that he didn't seem to appreciate. Radio host Rich Shertenlieb caught up with both Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce during media day, and decided to do a little trolling about the chatter surrounding the referees. While questioning Mahomes, the reporter asked: "For your whole career, you have had so many great people help you win. So who's your favorite ref?" Mahomes got a kick out of the question, calling it "hilarious" before delivering a pretty bland response about all the refs being great, which is pretty much what you'd expect him to say. But Kelce wasn't quite as amused by the question Shertenlieb had for him: "What do you love more, Taylor Swift or phantom 15-yard roughing the passer penalties in the playoffs?" The tight end gave the reporter a death stare before quickly dismissing the question - sounding pretty annoyed as he responded: "That's a good question. Anybody else?" Come on, it was pretty funny. Of course I'm sure Kelce didn't like his girlfriend being brought into it, so that's likely the reason for the less-than-pleasant response. Definitely seemed to touch a nerve there. But it seems like there's no way the Chiefs and the NFL are going to escape the allegations. https://www.tiktok.com/@heyrichhey/video/7467432954147474731?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7079551662505215534
