![Jerry Jones Reminds Cowboys Fans That It’s A Low Percentage Of Smiles &… Glory Holes?]()
![Jerry Jones]()
I'm sorry Jerry Jones... what exactly do you mean by that?
Once again, Dallas Cowboys faithful went into the offseason full of hope. After all, they've got their franchise quarterback in Dak Prescott locked up in a big contract for the foreseeable future, and the same can be said for his favorite target in CeeDee Lamb.
That being said, they just came off another lackluster year in which Dak got hurt. So fans were hoping that they'd make some moves to get back on the right track as soon as next season. After all, what could possibly stand in the way of "America's Team?"
Oh, that's right... Jerry Jones.
The Cowboy's owner, president, and general manager said they were "all in" on last season, yet they didn't really make any big moves in free agency. Then he decided to not extend head coach Mike McCarthy. That wasn't a huge disappointment to Dallas Cowboys fans, but the replacement hire certainly was. After completing interviews with some outside candidates, the organization decided to promote from within, making existing offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer (who didn't even call plays last season... McCarthy did) the head coach.
Schottenheimer was officially introduced as the head coach today, and when Jones was asked about hiring someone from within, he rambled for a couple of minutes and said this:
"In the almost 35 years that I've been involved with the Dallas Cowboys... I've only missed one Senior Bowl. 35 years. And I think I missed one Combine, in 35 years. At the NFL, over the last four or five years, the NFL we want to come in a day early... so that we can visit with prospective coaches for the future of my team and any other teams.
In 35 years, I don't think I've ever visited with a coach but what in my heart in mind I wasn't having an interview. I don't think I've ever had a coach visit with me that wasn't prospectively thinking maybe someday our paths might cross. I've been around a lot of coaches. As a matter of fact I wanted to be a coach. Except I wanted to live better than I thought coaches lived."
Any idea what he was saying there? Yeah, me either. And I promise that I directly transcribed that from Jones' time with the media.
But believe it or not, that wasn't the craziest thing that Jerry Jones said today. Later on in the day, the Dallas Cowboys
Demise/GM/President/Owner was surrounded by microphones and asked how he felt about the negative reaction from fans in regards to the team's recent moves.
Jones responded with this:
"There's a very low percentage of this that is smiles and glory holes. Very low percentage."

Is that what Jerry Jones meant? Does he know what a glory hole is? I honestly hope that he doesn't. Because if he
does know, and he willingly said that... it only makes it weirder and worse.
Needless to say, Dallas Cowboys fans are losing patience (and hope) with Jerry Jones leading "America's Team." But to put it into terms their leader can understand, they better start seeing some glory holes ASAP.
Believe it or not, it's not the first time he's said it... last year he was talking about his tenure with the Cowboys, and how he's seen the good times and the bad.
The bad days and the "glory hole days" as he so weirdly put it...

And then in 2023...

Big glory hole guy, huh?
The truth is, Jerry came from the oil business (which is
why he was in Landman) and it's actually an old term in the mining/excavating world. Doesn't make it any less weird...
