CBS Gets Hilariously Mocked For Title Of New Primetime Boomer Cop Show – ‘FBI: CIA’

CBS FBI show

Who is even watching these shows? Believe it or not, many are saying that we are currently living in the "Golden Age" of television. This special time is believed to have started around the year 2000, when technological advancements in media distribution were made (and when The Sopranos had just gotten started). There are also some that believe the "Golden Age" ended sometime in the late 2010's, as shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Game of Thrones all wound down their incredible, respective runs. However, it honestly all depends on how you define the golden era of television. If it was "the most television available at any given time," we're certainly still right in the middle of it. That's because streaming services and networks continue to churn out shows that sometimes don't even sound real. As of right now, a new show that CBS just announced is getting a lot of attention, and it's not because people are excited to watch it. It's because social media users are confused as to who is supporting an idea like this, and why the higher ups of TV can't come up with any original ideas. Spinoffs have become the new "hot" thing, only because it allows for television producers to create something different with the familiarity of something else. That tends to encourage fans of the original show to check out the spinoff version, and once TV creators figured that out, the spinoffs have just kept coming. CBS noticed that their primetime crime drama FBI was doing well, so they decided to take a swing and see if people would be down for a show called FBI: CIA. I'm not making that up... I promise. Variety confirmed that CBS ordered the pilot for the drama that will somehow bring together the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Central Intelligence Agency in one show. Here's how it's described: "A dedicated, straight-laced FBI agent and a street-smart CIA agent are part of a new, clandestine taskforce charged with solving and preventing domestic terrorism in and around New York City." https://twitter.com/Variety/status/1882210133985345552 Can I add that every show seems to be set in New York City? I understand that it's a happening city, but I'm ready for a show about the FBI based in Albert City, Iowa. Sure, these FBI and CIA (and FBI: CIA) units can fight crime in the big city, but what happens when you drop them in the middle of nowhere? Now THAT is something I might tune in to watch. Frankly, I've had it with the Chicago: Fire, Chicago: PD, Chicago: Med, and Chicago: Landscaping (made that last one up) shows. There doesn't need to be a universe for every single thing, am I right? The most frustrating part about all of this is that somewhere, somehow, people are watching these shows. I've personally never met anyone that sits down for the Chicago weeknight marathon, but those people apparently exist out there. That's why we're getting a show like FBI: CIA, and people online are absolutely bringing the jokes about the soon-to-be-CBS-hit drama:
